I am packing coffee filters but need to know what kind to pack? Thanks for any help:goodvibes

The coffee makers at the villas use the basket type filters 8-12 cup.

Enjoy your trip.:goodvibes

oh my....that was freaky. I just popped on early this morning to ask the EXACT same question! I didn't even have to scroll - this post was right there, first on the list!

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

As opposed to....

We only use the gold filter at home, so don't know what basket means.

We may just get packets of VIA instead. We're one cup people anyway.

I just buy regular coffee filters. You get like 100 of them for about $2.

Thanks this gave me a better visual of what I needed!

Glad I wasn't the only one!

I don't want to buy filters since we have the reusable, of course, cone-shaped. Maybe I'll get some from somebody (like work) if I need to.

I'm still thinking VIA.

There are two entirely different, incompatible types of "regular coffee filters" -- cone filters and basket filters. These, in turn, come in different sizes.

The cone filter for 8-to-12 cup electric coffeemakers is labeled #4.

The basket filter for 8-to-12 cup electric coffeemakers is labeled "8-12 cup."

I prefer cone filters to basket filters because cone filters do a better job evenly extracting flavor. Also, cone filters are less likely to collapse or overflow, reducing the chance of grounds getting into the coffee.

I prefer paper filters (preferably unbleached) to permanent filters because paper filters do a better job removing bitter sediment.

Of course, when staying at DVC resorts, we don't have choice. The filter has to fit the coffeemaker. So we bring "8-12 cup" unbleached paper basket filters. We bring the same package of filters year after year.
