What type of camera for trip??

I have a Nikon DSLR but I don't bring it to the parks - keeping tabs on 3 little boys is quite enough for me, tyvm, without the added stress of worrying about my precious camera.

So, our back up is in the Panasonic Lumic TZ series. Fantastic pics out of the box, Leica lens with 10x zoom and pretty affordable. If you read reviews, it's usually near the top.

THIS. :thumbsup2

I own a DSLR but I consider DL to be a compact camera trip. The Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ line is great and the images are excellent in the compact range. And cost is a factor when you want to have more dollars at DL! :) You can find a DMC TZ4K online for under $200.

(Panasonic DMC-TZ4K 8.1-Megapixel Compact Digital Camera with 28mm Wide-Angle Lens, 10x Optical Zoom, Intelligent Auto Mode and 2.5" Diagonal Intelligent LCD)

One other thought: can you borrow a camera from someone? It's just a thought, especially since DL is expensive enough as it is. This could be a real $ saver.

Thank you so much everyone for your input. I have looked at quite a few of these cameras and I think I've found a Canon one I like at Wal Mart today. I wasn't looking to spend much more than $100 (I want to get a nicer one someday but not this trip).
All I need is something that takes nice, quality picutres, and that is fast too. My old Kodak Easy Share takes pretty much a whole minute to take one pic!

You really can't go wrong with a Canon. They are a very good name brand. My dad has a camera that is 3 megapixels from them and it still works really good. I think you will be fine! :goodvibes

We've been very happy with our Canon cameras. I carried a DSLR to DL once; never again.

At our latest trip, I brought out Canon A570IS, and the photos are nice enough. You can see the difference between that and the DSLR, but it was soooo much easier to carry around....

We picked up a G-series Canon to see if we can't split the difference between size and quality.
