I'm trying to get an idea of what type of bag I want to carry around while we're in the parks. There are some things that I just can't live without like cel phone, camera, wallet, compact, lip gloss, park tickets, etc. But we're going in Dec. and I'm planning on cooler weather so possibly we'll have gloves too. I don't think I want to go as large as a backpack but looking for some suggestions. Thanks!

i used a bag like this one:

it worked great. i used it for cell, camera, money, tickets, etc etc etc and i still had tons of room left over. like a backpack, but lighter on your back and your back doesnt get as sweaty... i would know. we were there in oct. when it was mid 90s and 80% humidity.

We use a standard backpack for lunch and some drinks. We always travel end of December so we get a locker for coats and backpack. We all have fanny packs for cameras wallets and other stuff.

I've used a mini backpack for all amusement park fun trips in the last 4 years. I've found it works pretty well for me. I know some people swear by their baggallinis.

I bought a purse at WalMart that is a miniature backpack. It held a small wallet, cell phone, and a few other things. I could grab everything and hold it while they inspected it before entereing the parks. While I had to go thru the line, it was not a long ordeal to security-check it.

Yes Baggalinni's I've heard of so maybe need to do some research there. Sorry dvc guy but I just can't do a fanny pack. I remember constantly making fun of my parents for those, I don't care how convenient they are! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I have always carried a standard backpack. I guess its just habit after years of having a diaper bag (had a cool backpack one). It doesn't bother me to carry it most often and I do push a stroller so just toss it in the basket. This year we're renting a park stroller for the 1st time, so I guess I'll just make DD hold the backpack if needed.

Heh. I'm with you there. I actually made my mom buy a small purse to use at Disneyland because I wouldn't be seen with her if she wore a fannypack.

I use a large fanny pack. I've found that I usually need to carry very little when in the parks: money, tickets, credit card, phone, car keys, camera, autograph book, and antibacterial hand stuff.

Say what you will but the fanny pack is weapon of choice...besides you cant be all that worried about the fannypack looking rediculous when you are travelling down the street wearing your ears, or your goofy hat, your pin lanyard, carrying a crown or sword and whatever else youve bought, the last thing anyone is going to say about you is hey look at the dork with the fanny pack :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You do have a point there. But still, there is something about the fannypack that I just can't stand -- call it a personal preference.

I'm right there with you on the fanny pack. I'm 25 and I used to tease my mom non-stop when she'd "gear up" to do her Christmas shopping and she'd strap on the 'ole fanny pack. I think for those in my generation, the fanny pack is a huge "no no".

I succombed to the Baggelini craze here on the DIS and bought one. I like it but it seems small. We'll see how it all fits when we actually use it in 24 days!

DH is going to carry a small backpack if we need more room.

Totally true!!
My hubby carries the backpack with the water, camera, jackets, heavier type stuff. I carry the money and tickets (last time at DL he lost the tickets which meant no more fast passes!!!). I saw someone on campus wearing a lanyard with a small velcro wallet...I think I may try that for the upcoming trip.

I will be using my cute new Baggallini in 9 days... I'll let you know how it works out! It is smaller than I expected, but I don't want to carry a lot. I plan to only have my camera, the autograph books, bandaids and body glide... a little cash, and my lip gloss ( )...

There is a neat pocket for my cell and a bottle of water. My kids both will have a fanny pack for their sunglasses and a cereal bar. I will be having my DH wear a fanny pack, too, for the video camera (it's my SIL's and it is small enough to fit in the fanny pack!)...

I used this one in August and it was PERFECT for me!

I'm a little worried about it for our December trip as I know I will need to carry clothes with us but we head back to the hotel quite a bit so I probably will just leave our things there or rent a locker. We'll play it by ear depending on the temperature.

Good luck with your bag decision!

I always carry a small lightweight backpack without any little compartments. Once in the security line, I was behind someone with a diaper bag with a whole bunch of compartments and the security guard had them open every section.

We used a fanny pack and I got a plain small sized totebag and decorated it when I went to MNSSHP.

Have fun! :cheer2:

I actually use my usual "pocketbook"...which is really a small leather backpack. I found it on ebags 3 years ago, it's red leather and works as a sling or backpack...it is made by Tignanello. There are a few different styles and colors. It's small but I can hold a camera, cell phone, wallet with tickets, 4 unopened rain ponchos, a zip lock of snacks and a small water....just enough for WDW!

Here's a link with a few different styles: http://www.ebags.com/search/index.c...earch&n=0&Ntt=tignanello+red+leather+backpack

My kids always a talk about "Mom's bag", "don't you have a bandaid in your bag", "you must have something to drink in your bag" etc, because I always have just what we need but in a small, stylish package.

On gentler rides I leave it on my back...on thrill rides it is small enough to fit in the small pouches that are often provided. As a back-up, I loop the small loop around my wrist which secures the bag and allows me to still grip the bar/harness, etc.

We use a basic backpack with two small pockets on the front for the items we use most often (tissues, lip balm, sunscreen). We usually bring our camera, a couple of bottles of water, snacks and a light jacket with us so the backpack is perfect for us. We switch who carries it every so often so one person doesn't get stuck carrying it.

I have a messenger style bag that I brought on a trip to Europe this past Spring and may try that on our next trip. It was really roomy, but sooo lightweight.
