What "Trendy" Thing Should End NOW?

LOL about Hot Topic and posers...

That has been that way for what almost 10 years? I graduated HS 18 years ago, and while no Hot Topic then.. I could tell who was really punk (me) versus the posers.

Collar popping is alive and well in the high school where I work. The super high heels is another thing I see.

Another thing I see are vintage T shirts, like Led Zepplin, The Doors, and such like that. I'm sorry these kids were born in the early 90's, they have no idea what these groups really are about. I've actually seen some of those black/white 3/4 length concert shirts which were all the rage say in 1978-1982.

The smart aleck Tshirts need to go as well.

Reality TV

::yes:: - I can't take it anymore!

Even when you're not watching it you have it shoved in your face everywhere else.

Actually, my son knows some of the older bands quite well and likes some of the "old" sounds. I don't know if he is typical though.

I agree with you about the smart aleck shirts though. Some of them are just plain mean!

Another one, I get tired of the hands-free phones. Some of these people don't think about where they're looking and sometimes you have someone staring right at you jabbering away. It's weird to say the least.

Oh, and Muffin Tops!

This is when a girl wears tight bell bottoms and her tummy hangs over the top.

Saggy baggy pants. I can't for the life of me figure out how that trend has held on for so many years :confused3.

They are determined to keep them until they out grow them. :teeth:

I don't know anything else that is a "pod" other than the actual "pods" :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

nano, shuffle, etc...the same brand different model.

My trendy thing that needs to go is Hot Topic stores....now everyone thinks they are gothic for shopping there, yet it is so far from gothic it is laughable!!!

Have to agree on the Hot Topic thing. When I was 14 and shopping there it was Goth, now, well, it's NOT.

I agree with many of these posts. I really don't like the smart aleck t shirts. My 12 yr old dd likes them and eyes the rack when we go shopping. One day I asked her if she seriously thought I would allow her to go out with a disrespectful shirt. She knew I wouldn't. Same thing for shorts with writing on the butt.

Last December I was in a Hot Topic with my sister and we were paying for a gift certificate. I was disgusted to see the cashier's red thong. It just isn't attractive. Here is another Hot Topic story. My other sister was in Hot Topic last December (1 niece loves the store). When a store employee saw her looking confused, the employee took the list my sister had and gathered then rang it all up for her. My sister is a high end designer type of gal and she just couldn't bring herself to walk around the store. It made for a good laugh on Christmas.

I would like to see the phrase "my baby's momma" dropped. It sounds so cold and seems to encourage a disconnect between the 2 parents.

Bad language.... Wat Up? Yo. Frickin.
I agree and also think that writing habits have slacked over the years. Why do people post and say, "'cuz my 'rents sez i has ta"

What the heck is that?? :confused3 Can they not just spell out "parents" instead of 'rents? :confused3 I just don't get it.

I love reading these threads. :rotfl2: I guess I am in trouble because I LOVE low rise jeans (I have a teeny waist and rather good sized hips and butt), I can wear pants now that actually fit (and I promise my thong does not hang out). I am also a skinny girl and I work at it (the gym every day, watch what I eat, but I do it to be healthy, cancer runs rampant in my family). Oh and I love the pointy shoes. I just got the cutest pair of brown pumps (3 inch heels and VERY POINTY, they are too cute, and I have had them for a couple of weeks, no court jester look here!). And I like pink on guys. :goodvibes

Oh well. :teeth:

Tight, low rise jeans with a big tummy hanging out isn't a good look for anyone. A tight knit top that accentuates every roll on your body isn't sexy nor attractive.

No worries MIss Jasmine...ITA with you.

I do (and have) alot of what's mentioned on this thread.
smart aleck tee shirts
pointy shoes
lower rise jeans
thongs (when my DH can beg me to wear them)
a tattoo

I could care less what people think. I still have 9 piercings in my right ear...going all the way up. Had them since the early 90's...and that ain't gonna change either. Still have my navel pierced, that isn't coming out until I have a baby.

People want to look down on me for this? Whatever...I'm secure enough to embrace my own style

(oh - and kids that "pop their collar"...if that's what they like - have at it...but it's an 80's rip off...they shouldn't think they are inventing the wheel here. heheheh)

"Collar popping" - Yes... it's back.

Another thing I don't like which are still semi-popular are those sand blasted jeans. A couple of very expensive brand names (deisel for one) came out with them a few years ago... and they've never really died down. I just think they look tacky. Pre-ripped jeans are another pet peeve of mine.

Spinner rims... enough said, I think they look grossly tacky.

Women who have tatoos on their lower back. You know anesthesiologists will not even attempt an epidural when you have your lower back inked like that? Although I'll never get a tattoo...

Just had to clear this up....you can get an epidural when you have a lumbar tattoo. I know quite a few women who already have. (friends are tatttoo artists). :teeth:

adding my two cents . . .

the V-string underwear and low rider jeans on young girls. and the tatoos in the center of the young girls's backs (which can be viewed with V-string underwear and low rider jeans on said girl) HAS GOT TO GO!

those baggy, falling down jeans on boys - enough already! I was so happy to see the other posts saying this too.

reality tv. enough!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: This thread is so funny!! i agree with some things here, but not all. I have a tattoo(and i want another, man they are addicting!), i wear low rise jeans. but i just have to ask all you 'goth' people. Where is THE place to get your clothes?? If not Hot Topic?? I'm not goth or anything, i was just curious!! :scratchin

I think this all the time. I remember hairspraying the backs of my collars to make them stand up straighter...that was a loooooooooong time ago.

SUV's.

Women with the same hairstyle of the one-length wispy bang with blonde streaks, I walk down the street and can't tell people apart.

Uggs.

Pugs..not that I don't like pugs, but every yuppie on the block has a pug. :teeth:

Women acting like they are on Sex and the City...i loved the show too, but come on....
