I am going to Disneyland on Jan 24 2008, cold does not bother me much nor does light rain(I am from a very wet place.) temps are going to be about 65-70 degrees at that time. Will I need more than a heavy sweat shirt?

I was going to answer you, then thought it was a dumb answer, but now no one is answering you. So maybe my dumb answer will be OK.

A sweatshirt will likely be fine.

BUT I live in Western WA, and I always want to scoff at the concept of it being "cold" in southern CA. I grew up in San Jose (officially northern CA but really somewhere in the middle, LOL) and when I lived there I felt that 50 degrees was just beyond cold, and I had to get out of that mindset when I moved to WA. Now 50 is shorts weather. :)

But you know what? At night, even when I'm visiting my brother in San Diego, southern CA can get cold! I don't know if it actually is a desert, or desert conditions, but it seems like it, with a BIG difference between day and night temperatures, and it really seems to bother my system. Even though I don't think it should.

So a sweatshirt should do you fine (with a rain poncho on top if it's raining), but don't be freaked out if you find yourself shivering at some point.

So that's my dumb answer. Dumb b/c it'll probably turn out that you're from Minnesota or northern Canada or somewhere just horribly snowy, and you will be boiling your whole trip and think I'm a big wimp.

:upsidedow

Not too likely!! I live just south of you, near our airport, not your airport, is the a good clue? or is it just dumb? Anyway I Bet you can Guess where!!

We were there in mid-December when the temps were 60-65 during the day and low to mid 40's at night. I like to think that I can handle the cold but I was very glad I had a medium weight coat and gloves at night. During the day I went with shorts one day but with all the shady areas, I found myself being just a little too cool. So, the other days I went with jeans and a shirt/sweater. Remember that even though you are walking a lot, that's about the extent of burning energy. And, with all the standing in lines, watching fireworks/parades, etc, you're not going to create much warmth for your body. Have fun! :)

I would keep checking the weather. Last week it was in the high 70s. :goodvibes

Bring a warm jacket just in case. Or better yet, don't. Then you can buy something cute in the park!! :cool1:

If it's a HEAVY, HOODED sweatshirt with pockets, it's probably fine. However, the past two nights, in particular, it has been WINDY (like 20-40mph windy) and when it's that windy, even if it's not that cold, it feels harsh.

The mornings are COLD. Like 40's cold...up until about 10am, so if you will be doing early mornings or late nights, I'd pack gloves and a jacket with a hood/pockets, or make sure you bring a sweatshirt with hood/pockets.

We were just there about 2 weeks ago. It was about 60-65 during the day and sunny. We were fine in long sleeved shirts until about 3pm when the sun started going down behind some buildings. At that time it was getting noticeably coolerr, so we went back to the room for our fleece jackets. I'm glad we had them because it did get cold after the sun was down completely. I was wearing gloves even and I came from a cold climate. It was in the 20s when we left St. Louis for LA.

Yup, with the winds like they have been lately, I would definitely suggest either a nice fleece jacket or a heavy sweatshirt and something for your hands and ears at least for at night. The sun can make it warm enough to be fine in jeans and a tshirt or long sleeve shirt during the day.

That's how I ended up with my cute purple zip-up sweatshirt on our trip. I decided I didn't like the coat I brought (too heavy to bring, too far away to just go get a sweatshirt) and found something else. :upsidedow

But for next week's trip I think I'll also (along with sweatshirt and rain poncho from last trip which I was able to fold up again perfectly, yay for me) be bringing some long-sleeved shirts (from a McMenamins property, which I have a feel the OP has heard of, lol) and my thin gloves I use when jogging in this weather, for a bit extra warmth, since I won't have hubby or my 3 year old to snuggle with!

Ugh, it's been horribly windy here.. :headache: But it's cold wind, as opposed to the usually hot yucky winds.. I agree with everyone else up here and bring a heavy sweatshirt.. I think it's always chilly here at night.. But, you will be safe with a heavy sweatshirt, or just buy something at the park!! :thumbsup2

Thank-you everyone!! And Bumpershoot has it been unusually cold up your way? It has down here, me thinks, we may just miss the fozen ice storm that is brewing.

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier! It's been nasty-cold around here, just bitterly cold.

Me too! But I even need them here at home. It has been the most bitterly cold winter I can remember here, too!

I was checking weather sites and it looks like we will be rained on at Sea World, boo hoo! Now I have to work in a big floppy brimed hat so I can take pics with my new "no so water proof" camera, of Dd's swim with the Dolphins!!:cheer2: She is so excited!!

Hello!!! This is my first post (I think!) on the DLR board....Thanks to everyone for the "what to pack" advice...we are arriving on 1/31 and I have been worried about what to pack!!! To us, (it is -5 in Chicago today!) 40 degrees will feel positively balmy, (WE CAN'T WAIT!!) but we will pack jeans and sweatshirts. We leave in 10 days!!!! :yay:  :cool1: :woohoo: We need our Disney fix BAD!!!!!!
