What to wear to an interview?

I have an interview tomorrow for a nursing job. I just graduated in June and have not been on any professional interviews before, for Disney and two other internships they were all over the phone. I have two options of what to wear and they are:
Option 1, it is a black dress and cardigan, I also have the same one in teal if that makes any difference.

Option 2, black pants with a collared shirt and a black sweater on top.

If I had a suit I would wear that, but I was not able to find one that looked nice on me.
Thanks so much!

Between those 2 options, I like the dress with the yellow cardigan best.

:cutie:

Definitely number 1. Number 2 looks much to casual. And doesn't look as nice on you, not as flattering.

I would wear the teal dress (no yellow cardigan). Dress for the job above the job you're applying for, remember.

Good luck!

I thought of that but the dress looks sleeveless and I'm not sure how professional looking a sleeveless dress would look. It depends on how sleeveless if that makes any sense. (like how it is cut)

Oops I worded the description wrong, I only have one dress, the black sleeveless one. I do however have another cardigan that is the same style in teal!

I like number one. Can you add some simple but cute jewelry to dress it up a little?

Wear which ever cardigan YOU feel better in! Between those two colors it doesn't matter to much but we all have a color we think we look better in and feel more confident in and that is important for an interview.

Of the two, the first one is preferable, but the material of the cardigan is...ummm...odd. It looks stretched to the point of being see through to the black dress beneath it. Is the teal cardigan less "see through"? If so, wear that.

The fabric is a little sheer, but I don't think it is as noticeable in "real life" I think the flash made it worse. I will try it with the teal though, thanks!

black dress, teal cardigan with only top two buttons done?

Do you have a more standard, long sleeved cardigan? Even with hot weather it might be worth the more traditional look, unbuttoned.

The dress looks fine and either sweater will work.

Good luck! :goodvibes

LOL. I'd say either of your outfits are fine, but I too with go with the dress. We were just having this conversation with family on vacation. Both my husband and my cousin are in positions in their respective companies where they do some interviewing and hiring and both of their biggest gripes is the way "kids" (meaning recent college graduates) dress for interviews, mostly the girls. Apparently wearing flip flops to interviews is "in" these days. My cousin (who's a big wig with a news channel in Baltimore) said her one piece of advice to kids graduating from college is to not ask mom & dad for gadgets, etc. for Christmas & graduation, but to invest in a well made suit and appropriate shoes to wear on interviews. She said you don't have to wear heels & pantyhose, but at least look like you didn't just roll off the beach. Oh, and boys (men) wear a tie! No, you may not end up wearing a suit & tie on a daily basis should you get the job, but first impressions still mean a lot.

First one with maybe the teal sweater instead.

Good luck!

Dress with the teal sweater - I think the blue will really pop against your skin and hair.

I agree with a pp that some jewelry will really pull your look together.

as a hiring manager, that does about 100 interviews a month -- wear the dress and a cardigan -- but not yellow -- its too vibrant and the contrast makes it hard to look at for long periods.

and good luck!!

The dress. But the sweater looks "not right" with the dress. Maybe too casual for it? So if you have a dressier sweater or if you could find a colored jacket/blazer maybe?
