What should I wear on to the ship?? Bathing suit and coverup?? Regular clothes then change on ship into bathing suit?

It would depend on what you are doing. If you spend the majority of your time at the pools, I'd go with the swimsuit and coverup. If you're doing more of the "indoor" sorts of activities (tastings/movies/shows/games) you might want to be a bit more warmly dressed. I've found the interior spaces of the ships tend to be cool.

One note here, swimsuits are not allowed in the MDRs (even with a coverup, in my experience). That really makes sense, as the chairs there tend to be cloth and, even with a coverup, a wet swimsuit would leave the seat kinda icky for the next guest. But you can wear them with cover up at the buffets.

I usually wear my swim suit under my clothes (cover up in bag); or if it's raining, just clothes. My daughter has to have her swim suit on under clothes b/c she always expects us to make a bee line to some water.

Can you wear a cover up to tasting?

Yes you can, but you'll probably get cold. Mind you, if you taste enough, you'll have the famous 'beer jacket' on so you'll be roasty toasty!!!

Just to clarify I meant when I board the ship :) :) I was wondering if I could board wearing coverup or if I would look silly and maybe should wear clothes then change when I get on the ship :)

You certainly may wear your coverup, some people do. I don't.

I wear my dinner attire on embarkation day - usually a cute shirt and skirt & I put a cardigan sweater I when in MDR because I'm always cold in them. It just makes life easier (we don't fly tho; we just drive over to the port). DH & I never have had a desire to swim that first day in 8 cruises and don't expect we ever will. Depending on the month/season, DD wears regular clothes and I bring her swimsuit, rash guard and sunscreen in my carry on.

All that being said, I've seen a lot on embarkation day at the port. Most people wear regular clothes and have on a swim suit underneath or in their bags, but I have seen some people in nice cover ups or sarongs.....and then I have seen some inappropriateness....... Use your best judgment ;)

Just before you board they take a group picture of your boarding party. If you want a keepsake picture consider what you would like to be wearing for this. People board in all kinds of attire.

Hmmmmm I have a cute coverup (dress) I might wear that, hope I dont look inappropriate :)

There will be A LOT of people around in the terminal (if you get there early), so just beware. Plus, you could be waiting for some time if you do get there early. I don't find it too comfy to be in a bathing suit that long. If you plan to arrive after open boarding, you'll be waiting almost no time at all. That's a different story.

I have never gone to the pool the first day, but we've never had kids with us. There is such a mad rush to go that it's pretty crowded (to me). I usually have my bathing suit with me, just in case though (in case my bags don't make it... I'm a bit paranoid about that kind of thing... Some things just can't be replaced on a ship!)

I wore a cute cover up once, but we always head straight to the deck for jacuzzi or pool. It's uncomfortable to have to change in a bathroom.

If you have an earlier PAT, I would wear your swimsuit and head straight for the AquaDuck to ride before it gets too crowded. That's what we plan to do anyways.

That is what I want to do!! Looks soo much fun!!

The Aquaduck is fun, and even more so when you don't have to wait in line forever to ride it. The lines on embarkation day will get super long in the afternoon - I think at one point last year on our spring break cruise, it was close to an hour wait.

Depends on your cover up I guess. Mine is a sheerer material so I wouldnt want to walk around if I wasnt poolside or on beach in it. Ill throw a sundress over bathing suit for boarding so I get a nicer photo and still easy when I get on.
