I have NEVER been to Disney in "winter" months... should I even bother bringing a bathing suit? Maybe just for the hot tubs ? I usually go in the summer heat.. but am confused as to what to wear... maybe a couple pairs of shorts? ( Can u tell I want it to be warm... HAHA:cool: ) Thanks for any info u can give me on Xmas season and clothing!:p

With it being the season, I think Disney would prefer that you wear clothes (sorry, couldn't resist). Seriously though, you can face any kind of weather at that time. Because it is Florida, you will probably have warm weather during the day at least, although days in the 40's would not be unheard of - uncommon, but not unheard of. At night, it can get a little cool. It could be in the 80's during the day, and low 60's at night. I've gone swimming every trip we have made, so a bathing suit would be a good thing. Some shorts and some long pants, as well as t-shirts and sweatshirts would be good - prepare for anything, including a great trip! It's our favorite time of year to go.

MJames hit the nail on the head. Bring a little of everything. I live in the Virgin Islands, so anything under 75 degrees is freezing to me, but I still bring a bathing suit and shorts outfits.

I also agree with MJames in that it's my FAVORITE time of the year to go.

I agree, anything goes! Bring the suit, and long pants. Bring a sweatshirt. Bring shorts and t's. Generally you'll have warm and pleasant days in the low to mid 70's, and evenings down into the mid 50's. But don't besuprised to hit into the 80's in the day, and down into the 30's at night.

Bring things that you can layer.

I've gone the first or second week of December the past 5 years and it's been everywhere from low 60's to low 80's during the day and sometimes down in the low 40's at night. If they are calling for cooler weather, I would bring a light winter jacket for night. We wished we would have had one last year when we were sitting for the Candlelight Processional.

Last year I "traveled light" to WDW for 10 days in December for my DH and I and our 2 DDs. We each packed 2 pairs of pants, 4 pairs of shorts, 4 t-shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, a water resistant light jacket and bathing suits, along with standard "unmentionables" and we did great. Granted we did have a washing machine as we are DVC members, but with the mixing and matching of tops and bottoms we were well suited for all the different weather we had. We layered up on the cold and rainy days, and were able to subtract layers when the rain stopped and the sun came out.

Check the weather online the week before and pack accordingly, throwing in a few of the "opposites" just in case. Our Dec 2001 trip was high 70's, we wore shorts all day and night and swam. But it can be very cold. Just wait and see as it gets closer.:D

This is what I do for every trip I take. I usually check the weather the day before we leave, then pack. We usually go in early November and wear shorts and t-shirts the whole time. This will be our first early December trip...I hope the weather is just as nice! :D In case anyone was wondering...the weather for Nassau starting the 19th is going to be VERY HOT & VERY HUMID!!!! LOL

We went 2 years ago and the weather was incredible! 85 every day and down to 65 at night. We went swimming a few times as the heated pools helped!

I have been to WDW 7 times in December, and once in January.
It is really best to layer your clothes if it is going to be cool.

I always bring a bathing suit. Even when the nights are very cool, it is great to swim in a heated pool at night. You might just have to hurry back to your room, though. ;)

Last year, I had a really uncomfortable evening because it was cold and rainy. I went back to my room, put on TWO pairs of pants ( these pants were of T-Shirt material ), and my zip-up hooded sweatshirt. I even needed to use the hood ! I was much more comfy with all that, so I then went out to Epcot.

I never bring shorts because in December I find that it is NOT too hot for simple long jeans, and then I am covered up when the sun goes down and it gets cooler. So......jeans are great for
"middle of the road" kind of weather.

Some people bring gloves, but I would never do that. If my hands get cold (which is unlikely) I just cover my hands with my sweatshirt sleeves.

Ditto to all of the above. One thing that you will find hilarious (at least DH and I do) is seeing FL natives and CMs wearing mittens, stocking caps and scarves on the "cold" nights when the temp drops below 50! I just moved here from IL, and I find it sooo funny when the natives are cold!;)

It mostly depends on what is comfortable for you. I'm very warm-blooded and sweat profusely when it's over 75, so I wear shorts and t's or tanks, while my aunt is the opposite and wears a sweatshirt if the temp dips below 80 (although she still wears shorts with it). My grandparents are in between and wear short-sleeved shirts with grandma in slacks or capris and grandpa in shorts or slacks. Just keep in mind it is very humid and the temp often dips in the evening. The only time I've ever been cold at WDW was one night at Fantasmic where we were seated at the very top of the bowl and there was a pretty strong breeze.

In 2001 it was 80's and humid every day, not a drop of rain; it may as well have been summer.

Last year it was monsoons, cloudy and rainy much of the time. Didn't use a drop of sunblock, and it was in the low 40s at Fantasmic our last night. (And that was the first of two shows!)

I suggest bathing suit(s), mostly shorts and T-shirts, but some long pants and layered tops, e.g. a light jacket.

We have usually had glorious weather in the beginning of December but once we ran into very cold and wet weather with gusty winds. All the sweatshirts in the world didn't keep us warm so I would suggest you throw in a waterproof windbreaker type jacket for everyone. You can layer under it and it will make a huge difference. By the way, even though we were cold, we had a great time and our last two days were beautiful - shorts weather. Pack extra for insurance and don't worry about the weather. Have fun.

We go pretty much every early December. Pack for ANY possible weather. We have both FROZEN our patooties off in 30 and 40 degree weather (with highs maybe up to 50) and we have basked in 80 degree weather in December.

It is HIGHLY variable and unpredictable, even from one day to the next. We froze last December the first few days but the day we left it was 75.

I'm sure hoping we get the good weather because were also going in December...I've heard weather goes either way...Pack for everything....:Pinkbounc
