We went for our first family Disney trip in July and we are hooked! DH loved it, which was a surprise, since he decided well ahead of time that this was going to be a miserable vacation.

Anyhow, now we are planning on going back the first week of december so we can take DD to the Christmas party. I am trying to plan my outfits. I want to be comfortable and practical, but still look put together. That was easy to do in Summer when I could just wear a cotton sundress, but what are your suggestions for early December? I'd like to avoid jeans, as those get sooo uncomfortable after a big meal/damp day/hot afternoon.

Anything and everything. You can expect anywhere from 20-90 degrees (yes a few years ago it was 25 degrees in MK one morning we were there) and everything in between. Layer layer layer. I wouldn't worry about looking cute, I'd worry about being comfortable.

Oh wow. We are going that week too! I've only been to disney in late spring and summer when it's very warm to stinking hot! I am planning on bringing insulated pants for the kiddos and two sweat shirts along with our usual shorts and tee shirts. Do I really need to pack winter coats and mittens too? I am hoping the 10 day forecast before we leave is pretty close to accurate. Or I tell DH we will need to take TWO sets of luggage, one for our usual summer wear and one for the winter coat, hats, and sweaters!!! :rotfl2: at least in the summer you know the kind of weather to expect!

When we have been during the winter months, we pack lots of layers. You just never know how the day is going to pan out. We've seen lots of swings in temps while there during the same week as well.

We always layer. We have only been in December/January. Our girls wear a long sleeve tee under a short sleeve tee, jeans, or a skirt and leggings. If they get warm, they just lose the long sleeve and put it back on when it cools down again. We do take a light jacket just in case. I wore flip flops in December of 2008. Then in January of 2011 we froze one night waiting for the parade!

It can vary so much. Just layer and you'll be fine!! We'll be there the same week as you!

I was soooo excited to get cute holiday photos at Disney during our first December trip. Just my luck it was near 90* EVERY stinkin day and it didn't even get cold at night. I wore my jacket a grand total of 2 times over a 9 night trip and I am always chilly. No much for my cute sweater pics with mickey! :rotfl:Of course the year before it was 20* at night during the exact same week, so you really never know.
Pack your entire closet and weed things out when the trip gets closer. ;)

We've gone that time of year multiple times. Pack a little of everything. The weather can change fast down there and you can not trust the weather forecast even the day before you go. We have started off the week in shorts and T-shirts day and night (when people there the week before were wearing coats), and have ended the same week in sweaters and coats. You never know. We made the mistake one year of trusting the weather forecast the night before we left which claimed it was going to be highs of 70-73 the entire week (and I look at multiple sources local for the area and national). We took all jeans and thin long sleeved shirts thinking the mornings and evenings would be cool. The forecast was right for the day we arrived, and then there was an unexpected heat wave, and it was between 83 and 90 with record highs the rest of our trip. We had to buy T-shirts because we were burning up in the clothes we had brought. The high for the day could be 90 or it could be 50, we've had both that time of year!

The first time we went that time of year everyone wore shorts and t-shirts the whole time and maybe a light jacket at night. The second time that time of year the shorts and t-shirts worked for the first half then I ended up spending about $1,500 on jackets, gloves, hats and pants for the kids and a hoodie for me.

So like the others have said, it'll either be hot, cold or somewhere in between. :)

Check the weather right before you go. One year I did wear my winter coat almost all of the time. I was very happy to have it, as my plan had been to leave it in the car at the airport. :cold: And I added gloves at night!

We are going that week too - I want us all to look cute but be able to be practical. I am planning short sleeve outfits for the kids with long sleeve tees I can put under. I plan to find some disney zip up hoodies before we go that I can surprise the kids with as well. We don't have a ton in the way of winter clothes as we live in Houston so I need to prep!

You'll have to check the weather forecast the week before you travel.
It could be short sleeve shirts and shorts weather (and a possible light jacket at night) or we've had years we need pants and a jacket.
Hoping the weather is right down the middle this year. We are going the second week for a quick trip. :)

Wow, we're going that same week!:cool1: I plan to pack a little of everything; plus, we're flying out of Syracuse so we'll already have on winter coats and gloves. :crazy2:

We are going the second week! We've been down in December and love it!! Agree with other posters. Check weather forecast and plan on taking a little of everything!! It's a beautiful time to go you will love it:)

another little thing to keep in mind is where you're going to be at night. shorts in the parks were okay after dark but one night we decided to go walk around dtd. I changed DD into long pants and I had on a long skirt. hubby kept his shorts on and was sorry. the wind coming off that lake at night was sting-y chilly.::yes::

This. I brought two coats last December and was glad I did. Instead of leaving my North Face down parka in the car, I brought it just in case. I didn't need it. I also brought a thinner fall weight jacket and did need that on our MVMCP night. I wore thin gloves and a scarf that night as well. It was chilly. For contrast, two days after the party we were perfectly comfortable swimming during the day:confused3.

I would say that trip saw ups and downs in a 30 or 40 degree range. And once the sun went down it was almost always cool enough for at least pants and a light sweater. Bring everything.

Agree with the majority of the PP's - Layers!!!

We have been going to WDW in early December for >20 years now. We've experienced everything from freezing cold to shorts and t-shirt weather. We have pictures from one year where we were in shorts and a t-shirt on Friday and our winter jackets/hats/gloves on Monday. Its that variable.
