What to wear at Artist Point?

I don't think Disney has an official "dress code" for Artist's Point, but this is going to be our first time eating there and I'm wondering how dressed up people get, if at all.
We'll be coming from the resort, so park gear isn't an issue. My husband is also that rare breed of man who would rather be over dressed than under dressed and I caught him packing a sport coat last night. I think this is overkill for July, since he will swelter in it.
But he's worried that he'll feel self conscious in khakis and a golf shirt.

So what do you wear, guys?

When we went I wore khakis and a button down shirt, and felt relatively un-self conscious. If I had had a blazer with me I might have worn it, though.

I definitely would not wear shorts in there, though I don't think there is any stipulation that men wear anything nicer than khakis.

Artist Point is the only WDW restaurant I've seen the dress code enforced. They were sending men in non collared shirts and people in flip flops away to change. They were also lending jackets to men.

My family has eaten at Artist Point numerous times. I have never seen the jacket rule enforced. There is NO jacket requirement. Suit jacket requirements are for Victoria and Albert's only.

It is a Resort Casual requirement for all WDW Signature Restaurants. That is listed as, "No hats, cut-offs or torn clothing of any kind, no tank tops, swimsuits, or swimsuits cover-ups."

It is a lovely restaurant. The weather is crazy hot in July, but cool in the air conditioning. If your DH is a jacket guy, I say, "Go for it!" My husband wore khakis and a polo shirt. My boys wore dressy shorts and polo shirts. They were perfectly dressed for our dinner.

Enjoy your dinner!

I am also an overdresser, but I can assure you that he will be fine in the outfit you describe. He will be overdressed in a blazer. I think he could even wear shorts if he wanted to, especially in Florida in July, where the thought of putting on long pants in that heat makes me break out in hives.

When we ate there, my husband had dress shorts and a golf shirt and he was fine. There were several others who didn't look quite as dressed at all. I wouldn't bother with the jacket in July.

Thank you very much. I told him to set the jacket down and slowly back away. He might end up in a dress shirt, but at least I've talked him down from the jacket. :)

Khakis and a Hawaiian shirt is my normal attire at signatures ex. V&A.
Dressy shorts and Golf Polo shirt etc.. is OK during the summer.

We play dress up sometimes if we are going back to the resort before dinner, just because.

I was there last year with my khaki short. The CM was fine with it. Although she wasn't happy with my Bugs Bunny golf shirt. She make it a point that she did not want to talk to me or look at me because of my shirt. :rotfl2:

I wish they were enforcing the dress code when DH and I ate there in 2009.

He was ticked that I made him wear khaki's, collared shirt and nice shoes when alot of men were in the park clothes including t-shirts and flip flops. Alot of women and kids were in the restaurant dressed down too.

I was actually a bit disappointed because I was looking forward to a really nice meal dressed up a bit for once and had to listen to DH complaining for part of it.

Last time we were there, the norm was dress shorts and a golf shirt for men. DBF wore dressier sandals. I think the women tend to dress up more than the men, but even for women the norm was capris and a nice top.

we are going for the first time in aug. Since it is hotter then hell in aug. me hubby and son will be wearing nice shorts and shirts daughter will wear a sun dress.

T-shirts (with the exception of those with "offensive" wording or graphics) are allowed under the code. Footwear isn't even mentioned, so flip-flops are fine as well..with the possible exception of those .99 cent rubber things that folks wear at a pool. Those COULD be considered swimwear, I suppose.
I can't recall the last time I saw anyone in a jacket at a WDW restaurant outside of V&A. Same with a dress shirt.
The "norm" seems to be shorts, slacks or jeans with a collared polo. But you'll see many not quite so well dressed!!

a polo shirt and khaki-esque shorts is the standard
