My son gets carsick. We used to use a half dose of Dramamine for adults (per our doctor's advice), but now they have Dramamine for kids so we use that.

I use a product called Bonine and it really works, I'm not sure if they have a kids dose or not but it works magic for me. :)

We use dramamine for the kids but it only last 4 hours I believe. You can also use seabands but after a while they start hurting my wrists. My older kids like bonine and I prefer prescription zofran.

My grandson gets terrible car sick and we now use the seabands and they are awesome!!! No more getting sick...he wore them on our cruise and he did great...also, drink gingerale...I took ginger pills prior to leaving and I didn't get ill..I wasn't sure I would, so just to be safe I took them..next April I won't take anything, but, Cole will wear his bands...good luck..

every cruise i've been on, 2 disney, 1 oasis, 1 breeze, except for the Oasis -i could not tell we were moving on the Oasis at all --ever. I normally get so sea sick. On our 1st cruise it was Disney for 3 nights. I could not hardly walk.. i had taken Dramamine, the sea bands (did not seem to help me), and their Dr. said i could also take Bonine since the drug was different than Dramamine, but it did not help at all. I was so miserable and all i could do was lay down the first afternoon and night. Luckily i ate right when we got on the ship so i did get to eat something, but i was bummed to miss dinner. I tried my best to walk up to the Animator's Palette but we had to turn around. Anyway, i was perfectly fine the rest of the trip. Once we got up the next day i was WAY better, and enjoyed Atlantis, and the rest of the trip. They rescheduled my dinner rotation so that we could go to Animator's Palette, which was nice. So for the next Disney cruise i asked my doctor for the sea sick patch that you put behind your ear.. i doubt they are for kids, but that helped a lot. I still felt sick the first day though, but i was able to function. Then on the Oasis I never got sick but i was wearing the patch again. That ship was great. Then on the recent Breeze, i wore the patch but the first night was bad. I laid down most of the evening and scraped myself off the bed to go to dinner, which i just attended b/c i had an upset seasick tummy. They gave me crackers and ginger ale, but i could barely stand to nip a bite. For the rest of the trip though i was fine. It was just that first night... getting my "sea legs," i think the expression must mean. DD1 at the time seemed fine with no medication (of course), and so was DH as always never bothered him. So i share with you that if the kids or you gets sea sick on the first night, don't panic and think the rest of the trip will be like that, hopefully you get your sea legs and are just fine. If they are you can get Bonine for free if you go to the front desk, or you can pay to go to their on ship doctor to get the patch for about $100. Personally it felt like i was the only one sea sick and everyone around me was having a blast. Most likely you will all be fine and have a great time, best wishes!

I use a combination of things that have kept me "The Queen of Motion Sickness" from being so for the past 5 years.

Start taking ginger pills 1 3x per day 2 days BEFORE you start your cruise. Then continue on the cruise. OK for kids

I also use ginger gum and Bonnine on the first day and usually don't need it afterwards.

Lastly, and the best for me is to put MotionEaze on the first day and then if I start to feel queasy. It smells great and is my perfume for the week.

You can order it online or get it at your local CVS.

Using the power punch 4. Ginger capsules, gum, Bonnine and MotionEaze there is little chance of getting sea sick.

Good Luck and enjoy your cruise. We just returned from our Disney Cruise.:smickey:

Also, DIS boards has a Disney Cruise link with tons of info.

If they do not have a history of motion sickness they should be fine as long as the waters are not in a storm system. My dd is extremely sensitive to motion. She takes Bonine, has Ginger gum and patches. She only needed the patches during a day at Sean with a hurricane system hitting Bermuda in the open ocean.

She hates the side effects of the patches of dry eyes, mouth, nasal.

Keep pears, and anything with pectin in their diet, real ginger ale if hey feal nauseated.

We went on a Disney cruise a few years ago, and had 40 foot swells (it was crazy - hard to even walk down the hallway to the cabin!). Anyway, for some reason my DD (who always has a sensitive stomach, vomits at the drop of a hat) was okay. Son was okay with sea bands (bought on board) - I was so sick. Took dramamine but then that just made me unable to get to sleep. My friend had the patch - if I even get on another ship I'd use that.

I'd worry more about adults than kids - for some reason they aren't as affected by the motion.

Talk to their pediatrician to see what they recommend.
