What to take to parks

When attending the parks, do you carry a bag of some sort with you? What types of things do you take? What do you do with the bag if everyone youre travelling with goes on a ride?

After reading the things that have been posted on this subject before, I've realized that compared to everyone else, I take nothing into the parks.

I take some money, my lipstick, my sunglasses and some tylenol in a very small wallet on a string type of bag. That's it. And when I go to DL here at home, I don't even use the bag; it all goes in my front pocket.

Of course I don't have anyone to carry stuff for either; it's just me. If I did, I'm sure the list and the bag would be much bigger.

I bring a back pack and take it on all rides. We have a 3 yr old so I usually have a change of clothes for him, sunblock, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, snacks, a drink cup, a couple small toys (dinky cars & small book), to keep him busy in restaurants or waiting for shows. We keep the camera in the back too. He's been a little afraid of the dark lately, so I bring a tiny flashlight for dark rides.

Even on roller coasters, space mountain, those kinds of rides, you can take a backpack with you?

Yes, most rides have plenty of room on the floor for your stuff. Some even have mesh bags. The only ride I don't take my backpack onto is RnRC - my son doesn't go on that ride so he plays husband in training and "holds the bags". All you really have to do is put your leg through the straps and you're all set.

depends on the time of year you go.
I think staples are sunblock, rain ponchos (I see you are from CT, if you have an oceanstate joblot .88 or dollar tree 2 for $1, they are small and disposable, great for baby carriages)
wipes!!! if you have a baby or not.. I put them in my own platic baggie, not even a ziploc and roll it up, takes very little room and can used to wipe hands after eating, wet with water and cool yourself down, hubby brings a facecloth from the room to wet with water and wear around his neck... he's sensative to the heat..
1 small bottle of water, if needed it can be refilled at fountains.
and most important
$$$$$$$ :)

My DH carries a backpack with our camera bag, handi-wipes, planning book (with ADR #'s etc..in it), water bottles, granola bars/crackers, first-aid kit and sunblock. If there's any chance of rain, we'll throw the poncho's in, too.

Then there's my purse-fannypack. I carry some crackers, change purse, maybe $20 cash and our passes. The passes double up as our spending $$ as we put charging priv. on it. That way we don't need a lot of cash or CC to worry about.

There is no problem having a bag on any ride whatsoever. This bag of ours has been on R-N-R-C numerous times, this year it's been on Ex. Everest and that's about the wildest ride there is on Disney property!

I bring a backpack with sunblock, snacks, hand sanitizer, wipes, a bag of pennies & quarters (for my kids to make the flattened pennies), Pal Mickey, camera, plastic baggies to put stuff in that we don't want to get wet (camera, etc), rain ponchos, & sweatshirts. We also freeze water bottles overnight and bring those in the bag (they gradually melt throughout the day). :thumbsup2

I bring a backpack with my wallet, camera, camcorder (we have a tiny one!), ponchos, hand sanitizer, wipes, tissues, advil, sunblock, and a small bottle of lotion. We also have a pack of wipes and a travel size roll of bounty paper towels in our stroller bag.

Our last trip was our first with a child (DS was almost 2 at the time). That really upped what we had to bring into the parks. For him: A change of clothes, diapers, swim diaper, wipes, kids sunblock, sippy cup, first aid kit (he is still new to walking and falls a lot), small snacks, small toy/book, hand snaitizer, and of course his stroller. This is on top of our stuff: ponchos, sun block, camera, Pal Mickey, chapstick.

I learned very early to eliminate ANYTHING I did not absolutely need. I usually carry a wallet, but at WDW, I took only my license, room card, and one credit/debit card wrapped in an elastic. No cash means no change (which can get very heavy). I didn't take the whole box of bandaids, just 2-3.

We brought a small backpack last time. (bagallini) This was really helpful for ponchos, snacks, and our camera.

We will be taking a Baggallini Messenger Sling with us in Oct. We are traveling with kids, so we will carry:

homemade first aid kit: bandaids/moleskin/neosporin/advil/my epipen
sunscreen
cell phone
KTTK/fastpasses
$$$
camera
camcorder (ours is very small!)
quarters/pennies for pressed pennies
ponchos
hand wipes/sanitzer
small sharpie
index card for the day with ADR's/touring plan
small notebook
ziploc bags
lip balm

Hope this helps!

DH and I always take a backpack when we go. I usually put one of my small purses inside and keep the money, credit cards, park passes, etc in it- this way I feel double protected from theft &/or losing it! The other stuff we usually carry: sunblock, camera, camcorder, sweatshirts (it can get chilly later at night), snacks (I'm a vegetarian so I don't eat a lot of the "park food"), umbrellas, ponchos, sometimes an extra pair crocs =) You can bring your bags on all of the rides at Disney and if you go to Universal or Seaworld, they have lockers. Have fun! :cool1:

Don't forget glowsticks for the night parades and fireworks. It is a great and inexpensive way to keep track of your kids. It gets pretty congested and dark and I always feel safer being able to spot my illuminated children.

this past week, I tried something new... I carried nothing with me in the parks. usually I have a back pack and a camera... a light rain jacket, a couple pin lanyards, an autograph book, sun lotion, etc.

but this time I carried nothing, and since I was not fooling with where is my back pack, and not looking at everything though a camera... I noticed a lot of stuff that I have missed on many trips previous. It was great. I recommend it highly. Now I do realize that with kids comes baggage, but if you can take a day and take nothing... you will be amazed how much more you notice.

The less the better! My kids are older now, and my next trip I've already strategized to not bring any bag at all - my youngest son is 10 and favors cargo shorts as does my husband, and I'm going to buy myself some, too. We should have plenty of pockets for our passes, cc's, money, lip balm, etc. We're not big between-meal snackers, so bringing in snacks isn't a concern.

We even have our purchases sent to the resort so we can be "without burden" - the phrase a CM in China used. I love that!

My 16 year old daughter, on the other hand . . . she'd bring a pack mule with her if she could. Full of makeup, hair stuff, peeled grapes . . . :rotfl:
