We are planning a surprise Disney trip for the kids next December. I thought that I would start getting things a little at a time and setting aside for our trip. What kind of things should I stock up on?

As kids my mom and dad always had fruit snacks (we always got the cheap no-name brand -- that's the kind we liked the best), granola bars, single serve chips and crackers.

We would fill up a fanny pack or back pack. My little sister would always get the munchies after we just ate, right before we were headed to dinner or standing in line for a ride. That way we always had what we needed right with us.

here are somethings I did and they really helped
- body glide - you get it from sports store - makes feet not rub and legs not chafe (even if wet from rides)
- those cool air socks
- made my own tshirts from the disign threads
- disney trinkets from dollar tree and michaels
- plastic bags - I used these for everything - best tip was rolling an outfit and putting in bag - was extremely easy for son to get dressed every day
- toothbrush holder that suction cups to the mirror - got it at the dollar tree

If I think of anything else I will post.

Okay . . .

*Disney pins (to trade)- my boys discovered there they LOVED this (wish I had prebought pins off ebay!)

*memory card for camera

*quarters and pennies for penny press machines

*autograph book and sharpie markers

I kept a "Disney box" and everytime I thought of something, I would add it to the box then when it was close to the time, it was all ready. We also had sunscreen, a mini first aid kit, water bottle packets, chap stick.

Have fun with the process!

Lysol wipes small popup or peel back pack
Cleanup Wet Kleenex type product thicker then wet ones...
Soft portable Kleenex lg size tissue pk not the little, about 1/4 size of a box in a soft package....

Tide Stick, great on mustard from the pretzels stains.
Bug bite stick, bandaids, trial size or travel of Claritin, benedryl, motrin, advil. Excidrine Migraine for the bright sun headache tension headachs.

Pop up hamper
sample size laundry products- or Tide in the .99 size from Target, softener sheets.
Shout it out

I use address lables on eveything in case it is left somewhere. Camera case, camera, cell phone, kids....

Shoe insoles gel type
Foot powder, spray,
Spray water bottle, or one with fan from Walmart.
I also take a glad container, and zip lock bags,

I buy at Aldi's the Chicken salad and tuna w/crackers
Fruit snack, like Welches, crackers w/cheese
The packets of lemon.,punch, tea for water.
Snack pack of fisheys pretzles
Make homemade granola before you leave. or Chex mix, trail mix

I save condiments to take w/me mayo, jelly, ranch dressing
We get bread, english muffins, bagels etc. and fruit when we get there. in the values there is a cafateria toaster, with a slice of toast, fruit or buy milk for cereal for the kids, we never need to look for somewhere to eat before activities,

I have been known to pack bagels and fruit :thumbsup2

Print coupons before you leave for places like Poppa Johns, they have a $2 off and deliver. It is great for a first night to have Pizza, entree, and cold soda with plates and napkins. No stressing and running about.

I search and enter all the phone numbers for the closest delivary food to the site we stay. The hotel, etc.

I love those clips to hold onto everything too, the tops of my sunscreen, lip protection, hand sanitizer, lotion, or gather in a zip lock in one pocket.
Ds uses one on the video camera strap to his belt.

Shoe bag or shelf closet hanger that folds flat. I have one from Walmart.
Stoes everything in the bath area.
Keep all chargers, batteries and equipment in one zip lock gal bag or a case,

I take a few window items, a M&M person, Woody, potato head, beanie Pooh, tigger, piglet, Mickey and Minnie beanies, my lime green lights with suction hook hangers. 6 ft extension cord....Great to find our room.

Travel/trial sized items! My pediatrician always has a box of freebies at his office, and the things that came in handy for me were trial sized liquid detergent for laundry and trial sized packets of diaper rash creme and baby lotion/soap/shampoo.

I also now travel with just a sample sized vial of perfume - even though it's not my everyday perfume (which doesn't come in samples anymore). Just easier than lugging the larger bottle in my cosmetics case.

For the kids, keep a lookout for Disney themed t-shirts, sweatshirts/sweaters/hoodies (since it will be December), and bathing suits at the end of the season sales (Target, DIsney Stores). I was in a panic last December thinking about what bathing suits I'd bring for my growing girls. December weather can range from the 30's/40's to the 80's in Florida.

And after Halloween, buy some glow sticks or light up toys. We brought these light up blinky wands that the girls loved. We also had glow bracelets on the strollers.

Disney in December is great! Have fun planning!

I got some great deals at www.disneyshopping.com and purchased cute Disney Clothing before my trip. That way I wasn't tempted to buy a pricey tshirt when I had a bunch I had only paid $3.99 for :) This was quite some time ago I just kept checking back for when they had good discount codes that I could use on sale prices.

It can be pretty chilly there in December so don't forget you're going to need gloves and hats in case it is that cold (it was when we were there last year). So if you see anything Disney on sale pick that up at the end of this season.

If you are using the meal plan you won't need to stock up on a lot of food but there's lot of other things I was glad I had multiples of:

Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock! I went thru a ton.

Light sticks or light up disney toys

Batteries

An extra memory card. Also a quick tip that I picked up here that I loved - take your memory card out of your camera - on a piece of paper write out your name, cell # home # dates of stay and hotel you are staying at. Fill the frame of the camera with the words and snap a photo. put the memory card back in the camera and do it again. Do this with each memory card. That way if you lose one someone can find you to give it back.:thumbsup2

Ziploc bags to pack your clothes and to put your camera and cell phone in - along with any thing else that can't get wet for use on splash mtn and Kali RR, etc. I carried one around with me every day. I used it way more than I thought I would.

Money.

I had a box in the closet of things I had picked up along the way for our trip. Anytime I saw a sample of something we could use, I would order it (the Freebie thread on here is great for that :)) I didn't have to pack soap, shampoo, toothpaste, skin lotion, or laundry soap that wasn't a sample. I didn't start stocking up on food until about a month before - we liked granola bars, the small bags of pretzels or goldfish crackers.

The other thing I stockpiled was toys from Happy Meals and such. My son is 2, and I was hoping it would cut out the meltdowns when he saw a toy at Disney that he really wanted, if I could hand him a Happy Meal toy instead. He never really got the idea of getting a new toy when he saw them, so that was a lot of planning out the window :lmao: I ended up handing the whole shoebox full to a family checking in the morning they were leaving.
