We're not going to Disney this summer (we have a trip for Oct and one for Jan planned right now, so no withdrawal). But we're heading west to Montana (going home for a visit) and plan to return via Sioux Falls to Tulsa. What's to see between these two points? We plan on hitting Wall Drug, the Corn Palace, Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's Tower before we get there. I read about the Butterfly House in Sioux Falls and thought we might want to visit there. What else is worth the stop between these two points?

Ha! There's nothing out there! Well, actually... You know Sioux Falls is on the opposite side of the state from Mt. Rushmore and Wall's Drug Store? They're about five hours from Sioux Falls and not on the way to/from Tulsa.

Abilene's kind of on the way, if you don't take the major highways. It's Eisenhower's birthplace and is pretty cool.

Yeah, we are heading back from Montana and Wyoming, so we will be hitting the fun stuff before we get to Sioux Falls. Just wanted to see if there was anything more to see between Sioux Falls and Tulsa before we hit home. We'll be heading south from Sioux Falls just so we don't have to see the same stuff in Kansas that we saw driving up to Montana. We're heading up I-35 to I-70, then I-25 to I-90. Then back via I-80.

well you can see grass, highway and cars.;) :p

I can't tell you how many times I've driven from South Dakota to Ks. We always took highway 81 growing up and the most exciting thing was crossing the bridge from Neb. to S dakota.

If you plan on stopping in Kansas City there is Worlds of fun and Oceans of fun. We haven't been there in years so I couldn't tell you what was there.

Also make sure you see Mt. Rushmore at night, just beautiful.

There is worlds of fun and oceans of fun. They are no disney. You could shop on the Plaza- upscale shopping and dining. They are going to be having the Mickey tour thing there. You could also see where Mickey was born here in KC Walt's Studio is here. Harry Truman's hHome in Independence, MO if want to go a little out of your way.

I don't know what all is between Souix Falls and where you will end up, but I HIGHLY recommend seeing Crazy Horse!! It was the absolute highlight of our trip (for me anyway) last year. I plan to return every year to see the progress.....
The history there and the stories, well, it is just fantastic.
I loved Mount Rushmore too. Devil's Tower is sooo HUGE. We sure saw a lot of the country.
Have a wonderful trip.
