I am on the disney dining plan and have made several reservations. We are staying 8 nights, so I will have 8 table service credits. I will need to pay for several. Please help with what would be the best value to pay for OOP . I have the following reservation:
Tusker House Character Breakfast
Dinner at Ohana
Dinner at Garden Grill
Lunch Hollywood Brown Derby
Hoop de Doo Musical Revue
Mama Melroses Fantasmic Package
Lunch Liberty Tree Tavern
1900 Park Fare Breakfast
Le Cellier Lunch
Via Nappoli Dinner

It will be me, my husband and 5 year old son. Are there any reservations that you think I should change? Or a restarant I definately shouldn't miss that isn't listed???
Thanks for all the help, these boards are great!!!!!

You have 12 credits allotted and 8 available. So we need to trim 4 credits.

Without looking up prices, my gut tells me the following:

  • Pay OOP for Brown Derby
  • If the price of HDDR is greater than 1900 PF + Tusker House, then pay those 2 OOP, otherwise pay HDDR OOP
  • For the 5 year old, consider paying OOP at Le Cellier and Via Napoli while using DDP at Tusker House and 1900 PF (the Kids' Meals at a la carte restaurants are usually around $8 or $9, while the buffets can be in the $12-$15 range)

You may want to compare the cost of the 2 buffets listed above with Via Napoli and Le Cellier, if they're more expensive (which I doubt), then these two would be better choices for OOP.

Looking at prices, I would pay OOP for your lunch at Tusker House: $20.99 per adult and $11.99 for your son. You can get what is called the Prix Fixe Lunch at LeCellier which is $28.99. Our party of 4 adults were able to split two of the Prix Fixe and be completely full:thumbsup2 You get an appetizer, entree, and dessert with the Prix Fixe, which if you aren't big eaters, you and your husband can split one and your son can order off the children's menu. Lunches tend to be the more inexpensive option, saving the dining credits for the more expensive dinners. That has been our experience paying OOP for meals.

According to allearsnet.com's menu listings, the price of buffets has gone up.

Some believe this is just a reflection of the peak pricing, but I don't believe they have changed the buffet prices before for peak pricing, so it looks to me like this is an increase in the price for all year.

It looks like you are 4 credits over. I would pay out of pocket for Tusker House breakfast, Liberty Tree lunch, and Brown Derby lunch.

Ahh, I missed LTT lunch. That's certainly a better option than the other WS or 1900PF restaurants.

Via Napoli could be another OOP option. You could probably all share a large pizza, app, and dessert.

Just wondering about the days that you're doubling up on your TS meals. As in, your lunch at HBD...are you doing a dinner that day too? It might be easier to give opinions on possibly trimming a couple ADR's if we know that. I'm not sure if you've done the dining plan before, but it's a LOT of food. We rarely ate more than 2 meals a day and a snack....and we're big eaters! Also, you could make a reservation at Whispering Canyon instead of HDDR. It's the same food, without the show for 1 credit. It's a really fun restaurant and the hotel is beautiful to visit. You picked a bunch of really wonderful restaurants!!! Ohana, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Tusker House would be definite keepers for me, and obviously Mama Melroses so you don't have to stand in line!

We paid for the Hoop-Dee Doo once OOP and used the 2TS for 2 other meals each. Any TS breakfast or a Buffet for breakfast , lunch or dinner pay OOP. If you want Tonga toast use a CS at Captain Cooks instead of a TS at Kona both are located in Polly.
