Hi

We are off to dlp on 5th October. Just wondering what kind of weather it's best to pack for?

Will it be cold? When we were there mid March it was nice during the day, mostly, bu pretty cold for emh and when the sun went down, will October be similar.

Also thinking about costume for DS for mnsshp, so far he wants to be a pumpkin...(normally hates dressing up, he is 4). Would a good set of thermals be worth while to take for that night?

Will as usual be packing the wellies and ponchos.....;)

October is a funny month, I have been several times in October & have had rain one year, hot weather another & normal autumn weather other times. Its hard, personally I wouldn't go as far as having thermals just jumpers & jeans with a waterproof coat.

I agree, October is a funny month, much like march can be.

When we went in October last year it was freezing most of the time (and loads colder than our March trip) especially early in the day.

Pack layers! :-) hats, gloves and waterproofs too. We got soaked in a sudden downpour just as we got in our cars on Autopia!

Oh and my little boys dumbo costume was too big and ended up being a blessing as it was really cold and he wore his jeans jumper and coat underneath! If it's a big poofy pumpkin outfit you could do that! If not then I'd say thermals a must! :)

I take thermals to DLP for November/December - but I have been to DLP 1st week of Halloween season or thereabouts 3 or 4 times (including last year) and theres not been any need for thermals at all then. We didn't even have our coats on last year - they were left in the hotel room. A fleece jacket was needed for early mornings and from about 10pm on MNSSHP night on 8th October, but the rest of the time, last year at any rate, was lovely Indian Summer weather. Its drizzled occasionally on previous year's trips, but thats all.

check the local forecast for DLP on the likes of accuweather.com (you can get a 15-day forecast there) and pack loosely based around that.

As they say on financial products, past performance is no guarantee of future etc! I'd be inclined to look at the weather forecast for DLP a few days before you go. MSN will do 10 day forecasts, the french weather site is http://france.meteofrance.com. No doubt there are others but that will give you a far better idea of what you might expect but of course it might well change over the period before you and whilst there!

That's the weather for you!

Thanks everyone.

Will pack layers and waterproof stuff and hope for the best.

We've been twice in October - both trips have been ok for weather; layers are the key together with a light mac for the showers. It can be good, it could be not so good but a fleece is a must for the early mornings / late evenings.
