We're leaving next week and we're currently wearing layers and layers of winter clothes. I cannot imagine wearing less than jeans and a sweater these days.

What should I pack?!?!?! There's myself and my husband and a 6 year old and an almost 3 year old.

I understand that it cools off at night, so sweaters are ready to go, but will I need jeans? capris? tanks? tees?

HELP!

(And thank you!) :)
Happy New Year!:goodvibes

I think layers are good. I'd take some jeans and capris, then you can wear whatever is appropriate for the weather. Tees are good because you can easily throw on a sweatshirt or a jacket. That's what we are packing for our trip in a couple of weeks.

It does get chilly here at night, around 40-50 degrees. Depending on where you're from, some people think that's down right warm. :rotfl: During the day we're averaging mid to high 60's, occasionally low 70's. So I recommend jeans, tees and light jackets for day, maybe a heavier jacket for night time if you're sensitive to the cold. I have seen people out at the parks in tanks and shorts, but for this native it's too cold for that!! Hope that helps.

Sounds like it gets anywhere from 4-10 degrees Celcius at night, which will feel nice compared to Alberta's frigid winter temps... I think for night, you will feel o.k. with a light jacket, (T-shirt and jeans) and for day time, you'll feel good probably with T-shirt and shorts, or capris, and no jacket. We were there in October, and were wearing shorts and T-shirts and were warm enough, even when it was raining. (We're fellow Albertans. :)) We did see a lot of people wearing winter coats so like some have said, how the weather feels to you will be directly related to where you're from.

Have a great trip!!

I live in So. Cal. Granted it's all relative, but there is no way I would be in capris right now.

The high during the days gets up to the low 70s. At night it dips down to about 46-48 (BRRRR!!).

I was out tonight very briefly in jeans and a sweatshirt and was cold.

HTH,
Dreams

I'm with you, Disney Dreams...I live in San Diego and at this time of year, I wouldn't wear anything less than jeans and a cardigan (usually in the morning and at night I wear my felted coat and a scarf too.) I was at Disneyland last week and thought it was FRIGID, even during the day!! I was wearing a thick, lined sweatshirt, scarf, gloves, and hat - the works.

There were times when I was able to take most of it off and stuff it in my bag...but it was definitely still not warm enough for tanks and capris...and I find that January is the coldest month of the year 'round here so I definitely don't expect it to warm up between now and the time of your trip.

All in all - I think that you would probably be comfortable in jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters/sweatshirts/cardigans...worst case scenario you can stuff it in a bag, stroller, or locker. You might want to pack some hats and scarves (or buy cute ones there!) in case you get there and think it is cold. Better to be safe than sorry!

Whatever you pack, just make sure your clothes are mostly crimson and white!

ahh.... Your from Canada... Shorts and a tshirt should be fine for you guys!

we live in Sac but are originally from Kansas. Our son who is going with us still lives in Kansas for college. He keeps threatening to revoke my "Kansas Card" because i complain about it being cold at 55-60 degrees.

We are going next week and I was making sure jeans sweatshrits and jackets were washed to pack and my son walks in and hands me shorts and t-shirts. I was informed in no uncertain terms he was not wearing a jacket when it was to be in the 60's and I should be ashamed to say I was from Kansas if I planned to.

It is all relative to what you are used to. I would definitely have a jacket just in case - a light fleece would be fine.

I was gonna ask the same. What about people from Puerto Rico? I live in 80 + degree weather year round, even at winter. I expect that 40 - 50 would be freezing. I dont know what to pack lol

I know how you feel, PigletGurl.
We are in Hawaii where I am currently bundled up against the horribly frigid high 60s night-time temps!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I always giggle when I realize that I am buying winter clothes for our trip to Cali.
Heading out in less than three weeks... we will be going through our snowboard gear to see what we need to bring to the 'Land.

Weather channel is reporting temps in the 70's for the day time highs. High 40's for the lows. That is the 10 day forcast.

I'm taking the kids this week, and plan on wearing a short-sleeve t-shirt and jeans, bringing a hooded sweatshirt for when it cools off. The baby will wear a long-sleeve onesie with a short-sleeve t-shirt over it, long pants, and a sweater and fleece hat for evening. :)

If you go to www.accuweather.com and enter the city you are going to and hit forecast you can get a 15 day forecast with highs, lows and expected conditions. :surfweb: Good Luck and have a terrific trip. :cool1:

Thanks for the tips guys! :) I will make sure to bring a variety of clothes. Although, we just came through a cold snap where our skin would freeze in the less than 5 minutes. :) Or, before Christmas Edmonton was the coldest place in North America, and second only to SIBERIA in the ENTIRE world! YUCK!!!!!!!

I can't wait to feel a warm breeze and see the ocean!! I have never seen it before!! And to feel warm sun. Oh I cannot wait!!! :)

We just returned from CA tonight ~ we went from 71 degrees in LA yesterday to 17 when we got off the plane tonight. BRRRRR!!!!

I would concur with what others have said re: layers. I would do a short-sleeved top, with a zip-up hoodie or sweater, and then a waterproof jacket over that. I would also strongly recommend a cheap, waterproof poncho with a hood. We were in DL for one full day and even though it was only a 30 percent chance of rain that day, it rained ALL DAY! Had we not had the ponchos, we would have been miserable. As for capris, I definitely wish I would have taken a pair. The weather this past week was capri-perfect, except for the rainy day.

My experience this past week can be summed up as follows: Most CA residents seem to dress according to the date on the calendar (ie, they're wearing Ugg boots, scarves and winter coats when it's 70 degrees because the calendar *says* it's winter) while visitors dress for the weather forecast (ie, some of them were wearing tank tops, short shorts and flip flops because the forecast called for warm temps and they didn't *care* that it was technically winter). :rotfl2:

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time!

As a Southern California resident I dress according to the weather. :goodvibes Today it was in the low 80's and I briefly considered wearing capris but knew that once the sun set it would get colder here. I wore a short sleeved top. I wore my Croc sandals. We have been experiencing Santa Ana wind type conditions the past few days and it has been warmer, even during the night. Very pleasant, but still jeans and jacket weather.

We are going to DLR tomorrow and I'll be wearing the same type of outfit. I'll bring along a jacket just in case we stay after sunset. I will be wearing my Mammoth Crocs-they are more comfortable than my sandal ones. :goodvibes

I've noticed that you can always tell the tourists from out of town by their skimpier outfits. They start with shorts and tanks tops in the day and are the ones buying sweatshirts or jackets once the sun goes down. It's not even so much the temp. drop as it is the dampness.

I break out my scarfs and gloves once it falls below around 65. Makes be feel warm and cozy.:grouphug:
