well, we have scheduled Kona Cafe for our last night at the World. I was hoping someone could give suggestions on what is good to order. We have never eaten at this restaurant however we have eaten at O'Hana several times. How does it compare? Any info is appreciated.

I had the beef teriyaki and OMG, it was to die for!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 :cool1: I almost got the filet, my DH got the filet and he liked mine better, it has this pineapple teriyaki flavor sauce and It is just devine, It was one of the best meal of our trip last year......:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That sounds delicious. I think maybe I will try that and let DH try the filet. Then I can sample both! What about the desserts!

I orderd the prime rib with broccoli florets and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious (I still rave about those potatoes!!), and it was definitely one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I was too full to order any dessert, so I can't help you there.

We love Kona. It is one place that we do each year. I tried the Tuna Oscar and it was so good I think about it all the time. My Dh really enjoyed the prime rib and the desserts are yummy. We love the Kileua (sp) Torte. It is like pecan pie--but with macadamia nuts and choc.

Pomegranate Barbecued Pork Chop served on pan-roasted fingerling potatoes and applewood smoked bacon braised Swiss chard.

I substituted mashed potatoes...this meal was amazing. The chop was huge and meted in my mouth!

I know I will be getting the beef teriyaki! It was Yum Yum Yummy when I got it there is 2006. DH likes the prime rib.

we LOVE kona. It is one of the few places we go every trip.

My DH likes the mahi mahi and I like the shrimp and scallop dish. I do not like my shrimp deep fried though, so I get it seared with the scallops. So much better this way.

Enjoy and let us know how you like it

We ALWAYS get the beef teriyaki but boy that pork chop looks awesome!! We'll be staying at the Polynesian so I just might have to add a second dinner ADR there!! (As it is, we'll be having breakfast at the Kona Cafe every morning!!!) :sunny:

The Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi is sooooooo very good. My mom had the filet and she loved it, she didn't even need a knife to cut it. Max likes the kid's Mahi Mahi (he calls it "white salmon"), rice, and chicken noodle soup.

Thanks gang for all of the nice info! I too think that pork chop looks yummy! I was a little concerned about scheduling this place but it sounds like you all really enjoyed it. Now I am really excited I think it will be a nice last meal! Of course, I will be sad about leaving. Can't wait to try the food!:cool1:

COFFEE!! :coffee:
The serve the best coffee there. I always get that. The food is pretty good too. :lmao:

The sticky wings are very good as well as the Shrimp w/ Asian Noodles. Yummy!

DH and I just returned from a couple of days at Disney. We had dinner at Kona on Saturday evening - it was a great experience! We shared the sticky wings for appetizer, beef teriyaki w/mashed potatoes (soooo good!) and broccoli for our entree, and creme brulee w/coffee for dessert. Perfect meal!
I also had a glass of pinot grigio and DH had a lupa lupa (it was wonderful!). I don't really think you could make a bad choice there. Enjoy!

DBF loved the mahi-mahi, but I thought the chicken salad was a little too sweet for me. Plus I thought the wings were a little too over-hyped.

Don't forget one of these either!

Thanks everyone for the enough! You are making my decision on what to order a tough one, but it sounds like I can't lose with whatever I order!

I noticed you were from Southcentral KY, so am I!! Small world!:thumbsup2

We love Kona....actually ate there twice on the last trip. You can't go wrong here really.

My favorite was the mahi but unfortunately it's no longer on the menu. I've heard nothing but raves about the Tuna Oscar so that's my pick this year.

Also my DH loves the filet. It's easily as good as LeCellier.

Sidenote: I knew if you were a Van Meter you had to be in KY. I'm in Lexington. :wave2:
