HELP!! My stepdaughter has taken on the teenage blank stare when you ask what she would like for Christmas. Any ideas? Her mom doesn't like for us to buy her clothes :confused3 . I just want something cool to get her. Any young DISer's out there that can offer some help?(Or anyone for that matter!!)

What price range are you talking about? Some things my 12 1/2 old DD asked for are CD's, a mini CD player, clothes or gift certificates to her favorite stores, jewerly, makeup, purse, memory card for digital camera or you could get the camera if she doesn't have one),cell phone, pillows and a new comforter/sheet set for her bed. She dreams big!!! :earseek:

Ok heres my ideas, Im 13 almost 14.

iPod mini or shuffle (99-200$)

Go phone (Prepaid cell phone) (10$ for 100 minutes)

Digital camera or camcorder (About 80$ at target for a nice one)

Gift cards, gift cards, gift cards. Look at her clothes. What brand are they? Go to that store and get a 25 dollar gift certificate. Where does she usually eat? Go there and get a gift card. Does she likes stores like Borders and Hastings? Go get gift cards. I absolutly LOVE giftcards. I would RATHER have gift cards than stuff. Trust me, she'll love them.

Gift cards!! A good idea, not quite sure if her dad (my dh) will go for that as he likes to give the kids "stuff"

Anymore ideas??

Bubble Bath
Nail Polish and manicure supplies
Magazine Subscription
Pencils/Pens/markers
lip gloss
Socks
Slippers
Hair Brush
Candles
Candy

Would she be interested in the DVD - Sister of the Travelling Pants? That's been a recent release.

Does she like jewelry?

GC for the local theater?

Digital Camera (which has already been suggested) would be a great idea.

My DD turned 14 in July. She loves cologne, makeup, DVDs, CDs, earrings, cute lamps and pillows for her room. The big ticket items a girl this age wants are MP3 players, digital camera or small camcorder, TV, DVD player for room, computer and cell phone ( if she is mature enough to be responsible - DD has had one since her 12th BD and does great with it).
I don't know what the price range is or what she already has. Does she have a hobby? DD loves art (drawing and painting) and some of her gifts this year reflect that interest. She also LOVES the Sims computer game and can spend hours playing. Does your daughter play any sports? There may be some ideas for you there. Do you have any contact with her friends? If so maybe they can help.

Thanks for the suggestions it helps!! I'm really surprised by how many people said makeup! At 13?? Wow. She's kind of a tomboy still so I don't think we'll be hitting the girly stuff just yet. I'm printing off this list to show dh so we don't feel like total losers!!

Does she have an MP3 player? Our 3 older kids all have iPods and they use them all the time. My oldest 2 have the regular 30gb iPod--my DD got hers for her 17th birthday last year and my 15yo for his last birthday. My 12 yo got the nano for his birthday. My almost 6yo is getting the Mickey MP3 player for his birthday.

Also the cell phone idea is maybe a good idea depending on what all the adults think about that. We added our 2 older boys to our Verizon family plan and am paying the $10 monthly charge for each of them. They did have to buy the phones, though and have to pay for any extra minutes they use.

My DD is almost 13(next month). One of the most popular gifts for her age group where we live have been Target gift cards. I guess it's almost like a credit card...but with a *firm* limit!

Maybe check with the mom to see what computer games your step-DD wants/has? My DD loooooooves SIMs, but you should probably check and see which games/add-ons your already stepDD has.

Just wanted to comment on the tomboy thing, sounds alot like I was. But I remember wanting the makeup but just not wanting to ask for it? Like, i was embarrassed that a tomboy would want to get that stuff, so I didnt ask?

Maybe you could get her some subtle makeup, lip gloss, lotions, body sprays?

My 12 yr. old DD wants an Ipod. I am getting her some DVDs (Cinderella is a new one out), some cds, the Magic Kingdom board game & I'm hoping to get her a pink Nintendo DS ( those are popular now). I won't let my 12 yr. old wear makeup, she is growing up so fast as it is, I don't want to make it go faster! I always get her small things like lip gloss & nail polish, a calendar for her room. Last year, we got her a Mickey Mouse snow cone maker at Target, she loves it!
