what to expect the week of the 4th of July

We went a few years ago during the July 4th time frame. It was hot and crowded. That being said, we actually had a great time. The parks are open a bit later, so we just made sure to get early starts in the morning and take an afternoon break to swim and cool down. I found out that staying hydrated was extremely important. Each one of us carried a water bottle that we continuosly refilled through out the parks. If you are planning on going that time of year, I'd defintely check out some of the sporting goods stores and look for items to keep you cool. I've seen something that wraps around your neck and of course those spray bottles are great too. Just pick one up at Walmart before you head down. They run for about $5 bucks there and somewhere around $20 in the parks!

i go every year for the 4th. for some reason on the 2nd and 3rd the parks aren't that bad. i assume it's a big travel time and lots of people are checking in and out. at times it can be crowded so if you are a resort guest take advantage of the early opennings. i stay at the floridan and there are alot of activities for the 4th. the kids decorate the luggage carts and have a mini parade with mickey and minnie. they usually bbq by the pool. it's a great day to relax. i would suggest avoiding the parks on the 4th and go to the downtown disney area. the parks tend to close b/c they fill rather early. also watch the fireworks from one of the MK resorts. the fireworks are outta this world and the resorts offer the best view. this year they are gonna be even more amazing b/c of wishes!
