Want to take the family to disneyland & California Adventure on Valentine's Day. We have never gone this day and was curious how crowded it gets compared to every other Saturday. I've seen online photos of different decorations at Main Street & Toontown and food items specific to Valentine's. Are there special decorations anywhere else? Do the characters have special outfits?

Any insight would be appreciated! TIA!

I dont know if they necessarily have different outfits, but I believe they meet with their significant others more often than not (I.E. Ariel with Eric, Aurora with Philip, etc.)

DLR doesn't do very much for Valentine's Day. There are some decorations, but it mostly seems like the "celebration" is limited to food and merchandise. There will special Valentine's Day menus and snack offerings. There will also be some merchandise (which is already available). The Disney Parks Blog had a couple of entries on the foods:

In terms of the princesses meeting with the princes, they did that for True Love Week as part of Limited Time Magic in 2013, but I don't think they did that again in 2014. I haven't heard anything about plans to have True Love Week again this year, so, sadly, my inclination is to say that just the princesses will be meeting guests.
