We will be at WDW then end of June. What will the crowds and weather be like? Thanks.

In our experience the parks seem to get progressively more crowded as the month goes on. Since July 4 is a Monday this year, you might find more people traveling to WDW as part of a long weekend - beginning on the Thursday before. Just a thought.

It will most likely be pretty hot. Make use of the early opening park times to get your day started (before crowds have reached their peak) and then break mid-day for rest and relaxation by the pool, take a nap, shop, etc. The parks have late closing hours, so you can head back in the late afternoon and still have plenty of park time.

You can still have a great time. -- just have a plan to counter the crowds as much as possible and build in time for relaxation. :goodvibes

and there will be some rain though usually brief. It is crowded but manageable. One site I saw had the week listed as a 7 which means it's at the lower end of being crowded. We can usually avoid waits of more than 20-30 minutes by planning ahead and bypassing some rides for a later time. For example, if the kids want to ride Peter Pan again I'll watch the Fastpass time and get one before we head back to the resorts for the midday break.

Keep an eye on the times. Last trip they added some parade and firework times after the initial park times came out.

The last time we went was the 3rd week of June in 2009....It was hot, hot, hot...The crowds were not too bad..Not like I thought it would be..But it was definatly hot..We all bought those water fans and my kids teased me and said they were afraid I was gonna have burn marks on my nose from holding the fan so close to my face lol...It rained at least 1 time a day, not for long, but a few times it came some gully washers....:dance3:

We just found out we are doing nationals at Coronado Springs the last week of June, so we'll be there too. Our girls will be performing July 1, so keep an eye out!

It's VERY hot and pretty crowded. We always go at some point in the summer because DH is a teacher. Hit the parks first thing at rope drop, then take a break at your resort pool after lunch. Head back out to a park after dinner.

It gets so hot, that I seriously start to feel ill if I'm out too long.

I was there in 2008 ( I have a mini TR in my current PTR) and we are going again this June (June 23- July 3). It was hot and it rained everyday. And it was crowded. And we were newbies and didn't utilize FP, have a guide book, or ever hit rope drop. And we had the times of our lives ( with a 4, 2, and 6 month old, mind you!). With all my knowledge from the dis, I expect this trip to be even better. I think that going to Disney during the summer is like giving birth... You only remember the awesome parts and you forget all the pain. :lmao:

Animal Kingdom was the most miserable, by the way. Extremely hot and crowded. Then again, I was not following a tour guide and probably went on an EMH day, and I didn't hit rope drop. AK isn't my favorite park to begin with, so this time I hope to utilize my new knowledge and give it another shot.

Wow! How wonderful to see so many who will be there the same time I'll be there (for the first time ever, too). Was wanting to know about this very same thing, so I'm glad to see the question here. All the answers are great-I am going to be using guidebooks, advice, and all the tips that I've received. Hopefully we will be equipped with enough aid to be able to beat the heat and crowds and have a good time.:flower3:

We are from New England. Late June was very warm but tolerable.

The crowd was acceptable up until the weekend before July 4th. The people started pouring in starting on the days before.

We had one day of really heavy rain. I remember wading through AK while a little boy kicked water at us.

Our first trip to WDW 9 years ago as a family was end of June into July.
Hot, humid a bit rainy.
We were so new to WDW - but had a geat time.

Now that we have advanced our knowledge - we know about ADR's, FP's. extra magic hours, how to handle the heat and rain - we will still have a blast in June/July 2012.
Our kids will be 17 and 20 !
How time flies :rotfl:

When we went in June 2006 it was hot, not overly crowded. For us Animal Kingdom was the worst, we had a hard time finding shade to cool off in. Cut that day short, and went swimming instead. The other parks were bearable since we had several indoor choices to cool us off.

We have gone the last few years as soon as school gets out for a way to kick off summer vacation. We love going to WDW any time but it is hot. As pps have said it will rain so have your ponchos in your bag, go to rope drop and use FP. We will be there again this year June 21-26:cool1:

Have fun!!!

June is hot and crowded. Going in with the right attitude is key! You can't do everything (this will be our 13th trip and we still haven't done it all!) and you should take breaks during the hottest part of the day.

My favorite heat tip is to get soaked on a water ride at about 10am, really helps keep you cool for a while :cool1: I always look like a drowned rat :woohoo: Yay for Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain and the numerous water features/cooling areas at Epcot!

Oh boy! It will be hot. Very, very hot. It's always a good time to visit Disney, however, so you just have to be smart about it. We go early in the morning, return to the hotel to shower, eat lunch, nap and rest during the hottest part of the day. Then, we make our own dinner at DVC condos, and, leisurely get to the park for the evening activities. Surprisingly, there are many people who go during the hottest, most humid part of the day (ugh!) and as a result are stuck with tired, hot, cranky kids (and grownups). Still, you can have fun...just avoid the hottest part of the day.

DD birthday is June 27th. The first trip we took her was for her 4th birthday. Being from NY it was hot and humid, but tolerable. It started to get really crowded as we were leaving, which was July 2nd. It also rained every afternoon. We had a great time, though, which has spurred us into many return trips in the past 4 years :):lovestruc:lovestruc

Agree with this! :thumbsup2 It gets hotter and more crowded as the month goes on. We have gone in early/mid June numerous times and if you do as JenSop says above you should be fine.

If you have the ability to freeze water bottles it is a great thing to do. We always do this and as they melt during the morning we have cold water as we are going along.

Enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes

okay, so it will be hot; can anyone give me an estimate degree range??? am from north carolina, so hot is expected. i just wanted to know if it was going to be extremely different from what i'm used to. :confused3

also want to know about the crowds; will be using the unofficial guide touring plan website, and was told by the website that the days i'll be going are around 6-8. is this really crowded meaning will we have room to be spontaneous at all with our touring plans or should we stick to them like the plague???

i'm such a newbie.....:upsidedow

Oh gosh! I am going mid june... so i am worried about the heat... Good luck...
I am there the 14th-20th... maybe we will be there the same time!
Either way enjoy!

mid 90s. Last trip we started high 90s and with some rain dropped to low 90s for the high. I preferred the higher temps over the rain we had - which was higher than our normal June trip.

Regarding crowd levels - it will be crowded but not so much that you have to stick to a plan. We have been a number of times and have a general idea of what we want to do, but there are times you need to shift your plans. Some rides may have a 45 minute wait and a half hour later have a 15 minute wait. We typically don't wait more than 20 minutes for a ride.

Repeat after me; fastpass is my friend. Understand the nuances of fastpass and you will save a lot of time.

And from above; rain can be your friend too. Crowds seem to shrink even with minimal rainfall.

Have gone in June twice. It is a great time to go if you do your homework. Hot-sure. Afternoon thunderstorms-sometimes. Crowds-definitely, its summer vacation! Do your research, GET THERE EARLY, use the fastpass system, take breaks, and you will have an awesome time. The parks are open late and there are lots of parades and fireworks scheduled.
My added advice would be

-Get there EARLY. I am saying this again because it is unreal how much more you can accomplish when you push your family to do this.
-Don't fuss with makeup or hair. Pull your hair in a pony, slap on some sunscreen, sunglasses and a smile and you will be good to go.
-Bring more clothes. I thought we would need less clothes since it was summer but I was wrong. If we went back to our condo, everyone wanted to get out of their sweaty clothes. So we needed extra t- shirts, shorts, socks undies. I always do laundry on vacaction but if you don't want to, bring some extra changes.
-Sundresses look and feel great and are nice for dinner and the parks.
-Bring a pair of extra sneakers. We got caught in a downpour and not everyone in my family had an extra pair of good walking shoes. Our sneakers took some time to dry out.
-If you are pushing a stroller, bring a raincover for it as drying out a stroller after a downpour can also be a problem
- Stay hydrated. You can get cups of ice from the stands for free. Once you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

-Read all the heat related info you can. Bring your fans and you will have a wonderful Time!:goodvibes
