What to expect end of June

mid 90s. Last trip we started high 90s and with some rain dropped to low 90s for the high. I preferred the higher temps over the rain we had - which was higher than our normal June trip.

Regarding crowd levels - it will be crowded but not so much that you have to stick to a plan. We have been a number of times and have a general idea of what we want to do, but there are times you need to shift your plans. Some rides may have a 45 minute wait and a half hour later have a 15 minute wait. We typically don't wait more than 20 minutes for a ride.

Repeat after me; fastpass is my friend. Understand the nuances of fastpass and you will save a lot of time.

And from above; rain can be your friend too. Crowds seem to shrink even with minimal rainfall.

thanks! this is really helpful information; i am sorta used to the humidity and 90s in june, so i can definately get ready for that (sunscreen, brimmed hats, breaks in afternoon).:thumbsup2 the crowds question was what i was really interested in. gonna be there from the 26th to july 1st. i assume that crowds will pick up significantly during the latter part of our trip, but i just wanted an idea. been planning our trip for awhile, and got an AWESOME deal through the y.e.s program. because of that though, some of our dates are set in stone (meaning we have to visit a park on a certain day, regardless of crowds/numbers). will be going to mk on sunday (crowd level 6.3), hs monday (5.7), tuesday, our set day, ep (9.1-ugh!), wednesday rest, thursday ak (8.7) and character brkfst and home on friday. already don't want to talk about leaving, but will be doing the beach thing afterwards, so the let down is minimal....:yay:

Have gone in June twice. It is a great time to go if you do your homework. Hot-sure. Afternoon thunderstorms-sometimes. Crowds-definitely, its summer vacation! Do your research, GET THERE EARLY, use the fastpass system, take breaks, and you will have an awesome time. The parks are open late and there are lots of parades and fireworks scheduled.
My added advice would be

-Get there EARLY. I am saying this again because it is unreal how much more you can accomplish when you push your family to do this.
-Don't fuss with makeup or hair. Pull your hair in a pony, slap on some sunscreen, sunglasses and a smile and you will be good to go.
-Bring more clothes. I thought we would need less clothes since it was summer but I was wrong. If we went back to our condo, everyone wanted to get out of their sweaty clothes. So we needed extra t- shirts, shorts, socks undies. I always do laundry on vacaction but if you don't want to, bring some extra changes.
-Sundresses look and feel great and are nice for dinner and the parks.
-Bring a pair of extra sneakers. We got caught in a downpour and not everyone in my family had an extra pair of good walking shoes. Our sneakers took some time to dry out.
-If you are pushing a stroller, bring a raincover for it as drying out a stroller after a downpour can also be a problem
- Stay hydrated. You can get cups of ice from the stands for free. Once you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

-Read all the heat related info you can. Bring your fans and you will have a wonderful Time!:goodvibes

I'm going to Disney June 21-23. Thanks for these good practical tips! Hopefully it won't be too crowded, but I'm sure it will be.

Thanks for all the tips. We're headed out for 10 days starting June 4th and I may be more excited than our girls!
We'll morph into morning people for rope drops and definitely take breaks in the afternoon.

Great tips. We are from California where it gets to 106 and spend time in Havasu where it gets to 120, going June 10th for 12 days. People keep saying it is very humid, you are used to dry heat this is much worse. Opinions.... is that true??

okay, so it will be hot; can anyone give me an estimate degree range??? am from north carolina, so hot is expected. i just wanted to know if it was going to be extremely different from what i'm used to. :confused3

also want to know about the crowds; will be using the unofficial guide touring plan website, and was told by the website that the days i'll be going are around 6-8. is this really crowded meaning will we have room to be spontaneous at all with our touring plans or should we stick to them like the plague???

i'm such a newbie.....:upsidedow

I'm from TN so I have no problem with heat either but I just want to let you know that the heat in Orlando is very different from what I'm used to (and probably what you're used to). It is crazy humid - way more humid than what I am used to, and it rains nearly every day so when it finishes raining it feels like you are in a sauna. I'm not saying this to scare you but to just make sure you are prepared and not think it will not be different because you are from the south. I go every summer in either late June or July because I'm a teacher and it is always so very hot. The crowds, however, if they are really an 8, are very manageable and I never wait more than 15 mins or so for anything if I plan well, make rope drops and use fast passes.

The heat does not both me at all if I do early mornings and evenings with a mid-day a/c - pool break, and if I have plenty of water and a little hand held fan. But without those things I think I would die.

:)

Enjoy your trip!

Our first trip as well, june 12th-17th :)

From houston, where it is also very humid and feels like suffocating heat. I hope its not worse than this, i might not make it heehee! I think I can deal with the humidity, but I dont want to face both the large crowds, and heat. Im hoping its still early in the summer where we can beat the crowds & try to beat the heat with breaks! Our crowd calander has dhs 0.8, mk 5.7 one day and 7 another, 1.6 epcot, and ak is 7 something. Hope touring plans is accurate!

June is hot and crowded. Going in with the right attitude is key! You can't do everything (this will be our 13th trip and we still haven't done it all!) and you should take breaks during the hottest part of the day.

My favorite heat tip is to get soaked on a water ride at about 10am, really helps keep you cool for a while :cool1: I always look like a drowned rat :woohoo: Yay for Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain and the numerous water features/cooling areas at Epcot!

Great suggestion on getting soaked on the water rides. Hot is the byword.

Next trip is the hot humid rainy WDW - June 23 to July 3 in 2012

Yes we do AM EMH in MK, maybe DHS & AK - make an ADR for a late breakfast and head back to our resort.
We also do late night EMH in MK, DHS & EPCOT - but mind you no double dipping - not on the same day - or late night and early rise in the AM.

We ALWAYS have an A/C ADR for a late breakfast/lunch and for dinner.

After doing rides in the late afternoon into the evening, you want a nice bathroom to wash up and then a nice meal in A/C.

LTT & the Plaza restuarant are great places in MK for lunch.

RFC and we never have tried Yak & Yeti in AK have A/C.

ECPOT & DHS - we go to the Dolphin for the Dolphin Fountain or Picabu's for some CS lunch with A/C - AAA gets you 20% off your meals there.

Dinners are normally saved for our expensive meal - Coral Reef, Tony's, 1900 Park Faire, HDD, Garden Grill, 50 PT, & Whispering Canyon.

We do like Ohana's & Crystal Palace for breakfast.
