What To Eat With Salsa?

I LOVE Salsa and while the salsa itself is not bad for me the chips that go with it are not so great.

12 Regular tortilla chips are 3 points and the baked ones are 2 points. That would be fine if I could stop with just that little. I can eat an entire jar of salsa at a time (often as a meal) and 12 chips just won't do.

Is there anything else I can eat with my salsa with that will taste good but also will not be too many points or will I just have to eat my salsa with a spoon? ;) I thought maybe fresh veggies but the real crunchy ones are off limits to me because of my braces. :(

I am not doing WW, so I am not sure about the points but here are some things I have eaten with salsa. I have used Fat Free crackers as my chip or use the salsa to top you baked potatoe. I have also used it as a topping for chicken or a veggie burger.

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for a crunchy alternative to chips, I don't have one, sorry!

I enjoy salsa on a baked potato. I also use it on plain chicken breasts.

Not much help to you...I am really trying to come up with some ideas but that's all I have! Drat! :)

See, I can't have corn chips at all, way too many carbohydrates and the salsa itself has too many carbs for my taste too.

I use unpeeled cucumber slices for spreadable cheese, you could try that with salsa and see if it is friendly enough for your braces. It's worth a try, anyway.

The low-fat tortillas are 2 points each (I have the honey-wheat ones). You could scramble some egg-beaters, cover with salsa and wrap in a tortilla for a breakfast sandwich.

Or maybe cut up the tortillas and bake them on a cookie sheet (sprayed with Pam) until crisp. I don't know how the quantity would compare to the baked ones you mentioned in your post -- may not get too many more chips for all extra work involved.

Make a Salsa Salad! Take some green leaf lettuces, crumble a couple of the lower point corn chips and top with lots of salsa - and maybe some FF shredded cheese. You will still get a little bit of a crunch plus lots of 'fill'.
:D

I use the WOW ruffled chips. They taste great with Salsa and are only 1 point per ounce.

synergydiet.com has some GREAT low-carb tortilla chips! They're made from soy, but you'd never know it! I just tried them yesterday for the first time, and I'm hooked! I had them with guacamole! Yum! :)

Becka follows WW, Rhonda. But I am off to order some low carb torilla chips. Thanks for the head's up :)

I should get some of those. I've been craving peach salsa. I usually eat with a spoon though.

Have you ever tried polenta? It is very versatile, and can be as sinful as you want or as Diet friendly. I think it may be too much for carb restrictors, but Whip up a batch and smother it with salsa (and cheese if you can spare the points) It can be a whole meal. The salad and potato are great ideas, too. I'm going to load my chicken fajitas up with some tonight! Yummy!

Keep the Faith!

All my suggestions have been listed!

I like salsa on eggs, salad, chicken and baked potato. It's also good over some baked french fries.

I LOVE salsa too, especially the chipotle pepper kind. That smokey flavor is to die for!

Pretzels you gotta dip the pretzels in the salsa girl! That's one of my favorite evening snacks I like medium and it really satifsy's my taste buds. Try it you will love it.

Don't be grossed out until you try it - raw cauliflower (don't know if that's too crunchy for braces). All you taste is the salsa and you get a good crunch. I don't know if WW has changed recently but it used to be 0 points.

Pringles makes no fat chips and you can have 15 chips for 1 point, if quantity is what you want you get a whopping 30 chips for 2 points.
