I received a letter from some relatives of my ex, inviting me to the family reunion. They know we're divorced, they don't care, they like me anyway. Nice problem to have, I know. But, I don't want to make things awkward for the new wife.

Exactly. Unfortunatley I think declining is the only option. If they as why, just explain that it would be awkward and suggest getting together for dinner sometime.

Ok if you really think it will be uncomfortable then you probably should decline. Maybe you can make arrangements to see them another time if you want. If you really want to go though I would say go and dont worry about him or his new wife being uncomfortable... just do what you want to do and what is right for yourself.
