What to do?

My Dad and 2 brothers bought land 2 years ago to put a vacation home on it. I was asked to be a part of it but chose not to because these are 3 hard-headed men who rarely agree on anything. Well it turns out that my gut decision was right on. There has been nothing but fighting, arguing etc. the whole time. Now they are not speaking to one another, the property is going to be sold. My Dad says not to invite him to any family functions my brothers are going to be at, my brothers don't want my Dad around and I'm trying to figure out how to explain this to my younger children. What do you say in this kind of situation? I don't want my children exposed to such behavior but they are going to miss their Pap and Uncles not being around. Sorry this is long, I'm just at a loss here. I can't believe this is my family or how they are acting.

My mother stopped talking to her mother when I was a kid, FOUR YEARS!!!! All because my Grandmother bought me a pair of FORBIDDEN high top sneakers!!!

It finally took my grandmother getting sick and my mother getting cancer for my mother to stop being a witch!

That was just ONE incident with those 2!

My grandmother passed away 2 years ago and my mother will often say how she misses her mother...

All I can do is think about the years wasted over stupidity.

I am very sorry, I don't have any words of wisdom.
I hope that your dad and brothers realize how silly they are being and recognize that family is more important than a vacation home. Especially with the holidays coming up. I certainly have some people in my family that need to realize that!

Is telling them they are acting like children and they need to find a way to work this out before they regret it, an option?

I already did Laurie, did not work. I also said I was ashamed of their behavior but it did not do a bit of good.

That kind of stubborn huh. Sounds like my family. Some didn't speak until my grandmother's funeral. I wish you the best and good luck with this.

i don't have any advice, but i know (from experience) that that can be a difficult situation to be in.
