I have a Platinum card , but after next years stay will be downgraded. There are no Loews hotels in the UK or Ireland, and with only being able to go in July, makes it impossible to get the 10 stays.
OR DOES IT.
Spoke to Youfirst, explained my situation, and said the only way to get 10 stays is to checkin and out every few days, they said if you do they will be all counted as separate bookings and would get the $100 credit with everystay, which if it was every 2 days would mean i would have $100 for food every 2 days. It would be very inconvienent, so probably just get downgraded and go with whatever the Annual Pass rates are.
So what would you guys do.

mac...I'm not sure he would still BE plat next year...since he can't check into a Loews before Dec 31, 2008 :confused3 BUT, I'm wondering if he talks to Loews and explains he is overseas and they do not have their hotels over there, if they would still extend his plat for next year? :scratchin Not like he's not a loyal customer or anything... :headache:

As for what to do...you already have 2 check-ins scheduled. What you and the wife have to decide is if it is worth the aggrevation of checking in and out to maintain plat status? Also, I think you would have to bounce between RPR and PBH each time you checked out/in because of the 'fine print' stating has to be consecutive stays at same hotel..even if you check out and then back in again....in other words, if you stayed at RPR and just checked in and out every 2 days, it wouldn't 'qualify' you because you are staying at the same hotel (I think that's their way around the loophole?)

Only you and Lily can determine if the hassle is worth the suite to you. How much time do you really spend in the room? This year you are going elsewhere for a week...maybe you'll go elsewhere for 2 weeks next time? There's more to vacation/holiday than Universal....maybe you'll try a Disney cruise? ;)

To us, bottom line is we go peak season (summer) and the standard room is enough for us...because the FOTL is what's important to us...not the room we don't stay in much .....except for sleeping. ;)

Let us know what you decide! Good luck! :thumbsup2

I thought the number of stays was the actual number of nights during any year that you stayed. So it's the number of separate check-ins? You'd have to actually check-in 10 separate times in a year for platinum?

Yes. Unfortunately that is the standard now in hotel rewards. Yuck.

Robert, I sent you a pm.

Thanks Dianne and sent it on awaiting reply, will let you know how i got on.

Barb, i have my Platinum status for next year. Checked with the manager at the RPR when we where there , just to make sure i would still have it next year , and he confirmed that our stay in July guaranteed it. Have now 3 stays next year ,decided on DonCesar for the other week, personally i think i would stick with the one resort rather than all the moving about, just to keep Platinum although its nice to have, and the extra space in a suite is nice but not essential, especially as there is only the 3 of us.
As for the cruise, Lily is not budging, she says she would hate to pay the money and be sick for the time she was on the ship, but you never know:sad1:

What do you need to remain Gold? 5 stays? Since you had 3 already, thought 2 more wouldn't be a problem....but, you'd drop to Gold anyhows. Once Gold, you will probably be able to keep that status. So, if you're going to drop to Gold anyway, I wouldn't bother checking in/out 2 more times...not worth the hassle.

As for the cruise....they have Bonine which is a anti-motion sickness pill she could take.... Maybe peruse the cruise boards? :rolleyes1

Just going to leave our trip as it is Barb.
We where talking about our trip next year, and said to Lily that i can still book the cruise, for 3 days if she would like to try it, but she is not taking the bait, maybe the following year she said. So will just have to wait and see.

i think that's what i'd do too...keep it the same.

as for the cruise...have her read some trip reports..... massive waves in the caribbean just aren't there...unless there is a hurricane (which, isn't likely in July)
