We got home today from a fantastic 5 night/6 day Poly whirlwind trip. I decided at the last minute to buy my DS3 his own meal plan and park tickets. It added about $250 dollars to our trip but was well worth it. Some nights he slept through dinner or we shared with him so we ended up with an entire extra night of meals for me, DH and DD9. We used 2 each for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show so we actually had one night we should have paid for dinner but his extras paid for it. We had 9 CS and 4 snacks left today so we ate breakfast (all 4 of us) and then ordered 5 lunches for us to take with us on the road. We also got a danish and 3 cookies for the road. The snack service CM's were great about checking to see if our purchases were included as snack options. We actually got a family sized bag of Doritoes as a snack! The 2 liter bottle of Dasani that was in the snack store in the Poly was also a snack option! Really a great deal! We know that we saved a TON of money by purchasing the DDP. If you end up with a lot of snacks left on your last day, go to the snack store and stock up on drinks and snacks for your trip home! You cannot go wrong with this plan!

Feel free to PM me if you have anymore DDP questions!

EDIT: I want to clarify that my DS turned 3 the day before we left WDW. According to Disney, I did not have to pay for him at all but as as HONEST person, I did. We did not use Child credits to pay for Adult meals. My intent to this post was to inform people of how we used our leftover credits. I didn't want it to be a complete trip report. I left out the part of our trip where my DBIL paid OOP for dinner at Teppanyaki to the tune of $253. That gave us 2C and 2A credits that we didn't use. Our extra's came from that. Looking back at my receipts, DS got TS meals at every dinner except the one he slept through--why would I order a meal that wouldn't be eaten? For all of you who think that he starved, later that night, he ate chicken fingers and fries. I didn't want to turn this into a trip report therefore I left out what has now turned out to be very important details. In no way whatsoever, did we screw Disney out of credits or use child's for adult's. Disney doesn't differentiate how the credits are used, so technically, we could have ordered adult CS meals everytime BUT WE DIDN'T UNLIKE MANY, MANY PEOPLE WE ENCOUNTERED. We spent $5000 on this trip including accomodations, DDP, tickets, and incidentals. So I feel like Disney made plenty off of us. We used our DDP the way it suited our family and if you don't like it, too bad. I repeat, WE DID NOT SCREW DISNEY OR USE CHILD CREDITS FOR ADULT MEALS.

As far as the snacks, we got what Disney included as snacks. We paid for the Doritoes with CASH and then the CM said "wait, you may can get this as a snack." She checked, and we did. We only took what Disney included.

I hope this settles some of your stomachs but in all honesty, I am not too concerned, because there is not a single person on this board who hasn't thought of, or figured out a way to save a buck on a Disney trip. After all, isn't that what site like this and MOusesavers, etc. are all about--saving money? Anyway, I don't know any of you personally and hopefully never will, but I don't want to be misunderstood. If you are still having problems with the way we used our DDP's please feel free to PM me and I will go into much greater detail! :)

Getting out my asbestos keyboard.... ;)

Glad you had a great trip!

WDWO

Actually, I don't think either of those posters realized what they were saying.

Considering not buying a three year old a park ticket or the DDP when the rest of the room has it and then offering someone not on the plan your left over credits after using said kid's credits to get adult meals. Come on now, you know no one would ever consider going against Disney rules by doing such an unscrupulous (not to mention dishonest) thing.

Her DS "turned" 3 while on their trip.

As to the use of the credits, no comment.

I thank the OP for being so honest and not even realizing what she has just started. (or maybe she did?) :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Until I started reading this board, I did not realize that what my family was planning to do to spread out some TS's was so unbelievably horrible!!!!! Anyway, I know now that if I ADMIT to sharing or using a child TS for an adult, I'd better Look OUT! :furious: But really, who's gonna know ????? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
KIDDING!! NO SERIOUSLY, OK, KIDDING!!!

This meal plan thing is new to me. Honestly, I haven't been to disney in 2 years and there was nothing like this when I went. I take it, it is very controversial in how the credits are used?

I could be wrong but I think you are all missing his/her point. Looks to me like the OP is just pointing out that you can use leftover snacks and counter service credits for your trip home. No dishonesty there. They are yours to do what you like with.
As far as not buying a 3 year old the plan. I dont quite get that part. That makes no sence to me, but I dont think thats his/her point here. Even if it was... Who made it your place to flame someone for that? If someone wants to spend more thats their perrogative. Personally I think any resort above a value resort is wasting money. You can disagree. I wont flame you. Were all different.

As far as the leftover credits (the title to this post)... Whats the big deal? We did the same thing last trip. They are yours to use in ANY fashion you choose, including at the last second before you leave. :confused3

People here sure are quick to flame.

For a place for people to get together and discuss their magical vacation people here sure can be cruel.

Darn, I'm really confused now. I went back and read it again (third time) Can an adult ACTUALLY use kids credits? If so WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO???
The plan is a plenty of food as it is.

THAT is what the so-called 'flames' are ALL ABOUT!!!!

NO, NO and NO!!!!! You are actually doing a BIG

by using child credits (which cost approx $11/day for DDP) for ADULT meals (which you SHOULD be paying approx $35/day for)!!!!

Disney, thus far, does not have have a system in place that will 'recognize' and differentiate between Child and Adult credits when they 'swipe' your DDP card. But it SHOULD be obvious to people that you ARE doing something 'wrong' as CHILD credits are SUPPOSED to be redeemed only on CHILD meals.....people should know better.....so, nobody is being "cruel", just stating the truth!!!!!

This type of thread goes hand-in-hand with the 'refillable mug' and 'ECV use for non-handicaps' debates.....you're just asking fo the :furious: to start!!
