Okay ladies, I have no clue what to do!
I have so many clothes, some I only wore a few times, that no longer fit me!!! (Great feeling, but man is it emptying out my closet! LOL!)
Any ideas what I could do with them??? Transitional clothes are so hard to find...could anyone use some size 10-14's or L-XL)???

I could go to a consignment shop, but don't really want to...had a yard sale this weekend and didn't sell much....

What do you all do with your stuff??? Thanks!

I took mine to a nicer resale shop, where they closely inspected all of them, gave some back to me, and gave me cash on the spot. I use that money for myself, new workout outfit, workout tape, new clothes, anything.
Congratulations!!! Keep up the great work--its paying off!!

How about a shelter for battered women? Most women flee in the night with the clothes on their backs and that is it!!

I give our clothes to Good Will. I believe they will come and pick them up if you call. We also have the Salvation Army to donate to. You can call your Town Hall and ask, they may know who is in need.
I keep a couple of my favorite items from each size and hang them in a spare closet, just incase, they range from 4 - 12:rolleyes: I'm an 8 right now.

Ok,
Now I feel so bad for just throwing mine away. Really, they were not in the best shape because I have been trying for a while to loose the weight, and haven't bought much in a while. I think I really wore out most of the nice stuff trying to get me through till I lost the weight.

Those are some great ideas!

Does your town have any of those drop-off bins to put clothes in for charities? That's what I do with my clothes, they have a couple fo bins in the parking lot of the supermarket, I just bag them up and put the bag in the bin. I do that for my kids clothes as well, I'm too lazy to go to the consignment shop with them all!!

Donate to a charity and keep an itemized receipt of what you donated and the apx values. You can then deduct this as a donation on your income tax. I would figure 25-50% of the new value depending on how much it was worn. with the money you save from Uncle Sam you should be able to buy a few more outfits.

:D

Where do you live? I would love some jeans or basic khaki style pants if you have any- I am in a 14 and headed for a 12- but I refuse to buy any 14's because I don't plan on staying here or 12's longer than 2 months. I'd love to take some off your hands and reimburse you for postage- then I'll forward them to anyone here who's headed down the sizing scale too! I'm just about to outgrow some Liz Claiborne relaxed fit size 16 that I've worn maybe 5 times- I'd be glad to pass those on to someone over the next weeks. Also I have 2-3 dresses that might work for someone- one is a size 18 Talbot's sundress- blue checked sleeveless with pockets, a size 16 black/tan checked dress, and a size 16 blue/yellow springy dress. It'd be great to start a "can you use these clothes" thread! :) I generally give most of my clothes to Paralyzed Veterans of America- but if it's something any of you would like or fits your style I'd gladly send them!
Tara

Thanks everyone for your ideas!
Dh and I have about 5 garbage bags of clothes to donate, but most of the ones I am talking about here are nicer work clothes or casual wear.

Tara- Great Idea!!! Then if I send them to you and they don't fit or you don't want them, you can donate or pass them on! Cool!!!! PM me and we can talk about things you might want!

Anyone else?? :)

I love this idea!!! I am wearing XL tops and working my way towards size 16 on the bottom. I am losing great above the waist and I am hoping the extra walking will start the bottom half on its way to being slimmer. Tara promises me it will, right Tara? ;)

I think that's a great idea to share and pass them along. I've done that some myself but i've also sold some on Ebay. I've made over 800.00 selling my jeans and sweaters and shirts on Ebay since June. Just putting what i could manage to keep up with on and letting them sell. It's been awesome and i just wanted to mention that for others that maybe want to give that road a try too. And with that money i'm taking my family to Dayonta Beach for Labor Day weekend fun!!!! :) I just wanted to add that to you thread hope you don't mind.

That is great Tammy! Good for you!
I really love the idea of sharing them with my WISH friends...so this is nice! :)

At the start of the summer I was almost ready for a size 20!! Still wearing a 22 though. Well not much has changedbut I did break down and buy a size 20 in jeans. Just one pair as an incentive. When I need that size I will actually have to break down and buy some because I have nothing in a 20 or smaller!!!

I agree with the other posters, lots of great ways to clear your closets for the next smaller size!

If you think that you might you want to try eBay there is a great thread on the Budget Board with lots of great eBay advice.

I'm paying for our 11 night stay at the BCV for the 2004 marathon with eBay money. I usually sell a couple times a year and list things on a Sunday-seems like a good time. If I can save the $1430 for the DVC point rental, I'll be happy & anything over that can go for meals, etc...

For those that are going in 2005 for the marathon--what a great way to save up for the trip!

I was hoping that someone would coordinate a clothing exchange right here on WISH.

I have many size 22's that I can't wear. Some of them still have the tags and have never been worn. I contacted a couple of WISHers a few months ago but the size was too large for them.

Anyone want some size 22's? I'll mail them out if you send me a pm.

I just donated 5 bags of clothes to The Salvation Army. I never thought about selling on E-bay!

I like the idea of donating to a womans shelter. My kids clothes get donated to the foster care program.

Really know where you're coming from, having dropped from a size 24 to a 12 in 5 months.
As fast as I've been buying clothes, I've been shrinking out of them!!!
My mum volunteers in a charity shop so she gets the bulk of them and the ones I've only had a short while or designer stuff goes on E-bay. I just leave the money in my Paypal acct so I can then finance new stuff from E-bay!!
