What to do with our stuff while at the resort pool?

I also leave my things on the chair/table and will conceal them in a towel or bag or something. I'll also pick a spot close to the pool entrance and with a good line of sight to the pool bar & restroom so I can keep my eyes on everything.

It's never absolutely and totally safe to leave valuable stuff out when you aren't there and aren't watching, but having it inside a bag can help deter quick grab and carry thieves (unless they just grab the whole bag). Personally I would bring an actual book, rather than a Kindle, but I'm cautious anyway.

Magic Bands are waterproof and sometimes they're all you need.

I am with the group in saying that I usually tuck things away in a bag or wrap them into my cover-up and leave it on the chair. It is a pain, that's for sure! Last time we were at SAB, so I would leave my phone in the room if I planned to swim, since that's the main thing I'm worried about. It's just so much fun to take pics and do snapchat videos of me chillin in the Florida sun with the palm trees!

If you are planning on buying a drink at the pool bar you might need your ID. The bartender at the BWV pool was insistent that I go up to my room and get mine before she could serve me.
Are you young enough that you look like you might not be legal? I’m 53, and there’s no doubt that I am legal. Would I get carded?

I'm in my 30s and I get carded all of the time at WDW. Don't they have to card everyone? Or am I mistaking them with another place?

We just usually bring our phones, sunscreen, and such at the pool and keep them under some towels and such. Never had any problems, but I do realize something could happen as we are still in the real world. One thing I would like to do, but am real unsure of is to buy some beach towels from Disney that I really like and use them to mark our selected pool chairs. They are not cheap and I am sure they would stand out, but I do fear someone might try to steal those. I don't know, anyone have any experience with having really nice beach towels taken during your trip?

My mom got carded. She’s in her 60’s.

The bartender said she believed me since I was sitting there with my mom and my daughter who was 15, but she still had to look at my ID.

I haven’t been carded anywhere in 20 plus years. It’s obvious that I’m over 21. At the grocery store I have to tell them my birthday, but that’s the closest I have come to getting carded anywhere.

I really understand people in their 20’s maybe even early 30’s, and even though I look pretty good for 53, I certainly don’t look underage.:rotfl2:

I wouldn't bring anything of value, but even to save my lounge chair I 'make friends' with someone near me. (Never fails - many people go to the pool without a 2nd adult, so appreciate the idea. I.e., DH and I don't both take the kids to the pool usually, and that seems pretty common.) I don't bring my phone: figure if I went on a cruise wouldn't have reception.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I purchased a KYSS bag for this reason. The bag has a small chain built into it so you can wrap it around the arm or leg of your chair and lock it in place via combination lock. It also locks the zippers together. No one can open your bag or run off with it. I got the medium size one which is a perfect beach bag size. I used the bag several times in Hawaii and it worked well. I worry less about an incident at a Disney pool compared to public beaches or other busy places, but it still eases the mind. If you didn't want to invest in that, I would at least bring a bag with a zipper and keep your Kindle in that, tucked under or next to your chair.

I'm definitely going to look into a KYSS bag! Thanks for the recommendation!!

My fiance and I are going to WDW for our honeymoon June 11-20 and staying at POFQ :goodvibes

One of my favorite things to do is read by the pool. On our first and only trip so far (back in March 2014), I was the only one interested in going out to the pool (POR) and it was just a little too chilly for me to get in the pool so I never had to leave my stuff.

This time, since it will be June and hotter than before, my fiance and I are planning on spending some afternoons by the pool and we want to swim and use the water slide.

My question: what do we do with our stuff (my Kindle and any other personal items) we bring with us? Is it safe to leave them on our lounge chairs (or in a closed bag)? I don't particularly want to go back and forth to the room to drop off stuff just to come back and get it when we are done swimming but I also want to keep our belongings safe. We will not be taking phones or wallets out to the pool so the only real thing of value would be my Kindle.

We got a Kyss bag a few years ago and it works perfect for the pool.It is a beach bag with a long chain and number lock attached. We bring it on all our trips and feel good about leaving our stuff. We wrap chain around part of chair that can’t be removed and lock and set bag on top.No one would ever really know until they w not to move it.Check it out online.

I have a waterproof phone pouch that I wear around my neck and put my phone in it. I bring one paperback book with me for reading at the pool and leave my kindle in the room.
I buy books at estate sales and one of those is what I bring with me for pool side reading.

I bought a KYSS bag and used it at a couple of locations during a cruise and was happy with that use. However, the zipper got corroded and would not zip/unzip. I contacted the company since it had been less than a year since I purchases the bag. They never responded. So, just keep in mind their product does not last and their customer service is nonresponsive. I would look into other alternatives.

Weird! I've had mine since 2016, its gotten wet with pool water and salt water and taken some abuse, but the zipper has no issues. Sorry you got a faulty one!!

A couple others just mentioned the KYSS bag, which is a bag we considered. We ended up going with a Cool Bag, which is also a lockable bag.

If you were really worried, you might try a door wedge alarm under your bag. If the bag was moved, the alarm goes off.

I only bring my phone to take pictures, and keep track of time. It's always just myself & my daughter so reading isn't an option for me. When I go in the water with her I will usually put my phone in my cover up pocket, and then put our towels, shoes & any bags on top of that on our lounge chairs. I also select a chair close to where we 'll be at the pool, and I keep an eye on it while we're swimming. Not foolproof for sure. I have read reports of thefts at the pools so I do worry about it. I will look into the KYSS bags... it will make it much easier.

I just leave my phone wrapped up in my shirt or shorts and my kindle under my towel. Never had any problems but we also almost always use the chairs at the hot tub instead of the main pool and that area is a little more isolated.
