What do you do with your old computers? We have a couple of monitors, keyboards,a printer/scanner/copier and another printer. Should I just drag them to the curb? Or is there a place that would be interested that anyone knows of? :confused3

My husband sold a bunch of his old computer stuff at our yard sale, and sold another good chunk of it on Craigslist. The rest went to the curb.

It's funny, we couldn't find anybody to take the stuff from us; DH tried to donate it to schools and churches and the computers were too old.

Gosh, I was just wondering the same thing!

We have an ancient one we need to get off our hands. Probably a local historical society would really appreciate it! :rotfl:

We asked our daughter's preschool if they wanted it, but it was too old. We have also donated to the local library, Department of Social Services, Boys and Girls Club and even the local Senior Centers. MY work was gettign rid of alot of computers to make way for laptops.

Donate them. www.vvapickup.org would love to have them.

Here you aren't supposed to throw them out with regular trash.

Gosh, make sure you destroy the hard drive yourself! Don't let anyone just pick that piece up.

It's quite fun, actually. Get it out of the frame casing, take a baseball bat to it somewhere safe outside, and remember all the grief it gave you with error messages, viruses, lost and damaged files, freeze-ups, etc.

Wear protective eyewear!

We can't throw them out in the regular trash here. We have to wait until the county does hazardous waste days. We can't dump paint pr anything like that. If you throw out a paint can it has to be totally empty and washed thoroughly.

I saw a HP rep in Costco recently and suggested bleach for the hard drive. Just soak for about 30 minutes and the bleach will completely destroy it. :)

It's amazing how I can't find anyone that wants some of this stuff! Not even the monitors or the copy/scanner/printer thing that I paid a small fortune for when it first came on the market! :guilty:

This is when you sneak up to the back of the local Home Depot, and toss the paint in their dumpster!!! :rolleyes1 hey, I once spent a small fortune on that paint, what's wrong with taking it back there??? ;)

There are programs for free hard drive erasers. how well do they work?
