Hi.
I currently have points leftover in my 2011 September UY that I cannot transfer since they have been borrowed. These points must be used by August 31, 2012.

I do not have any points remaining in 2012 since we just booked our stay for this year.

The points are too small to book even one night at any resort.

Do I just eat the points or is there anything I can do with them. I suspect there isn't anything I can do with them to make a profit any longer. Is this correct too?

Thank you very much for all your help!

The only way you could make use of them is to borrow more points from UY 2012 (if you have any)

oops, I do not have any points left in 2012 either.
I just completed making my ressies for 2012 UY and rented all the remaining points.

Thanks.

I don't know if you could transfer them or not, but look into that. Maybe there is someone who could use the points to add a day or just bank their own XX points.

Even if you get nothing in return, if it was me, i'd rather someone use the points then just let them them expire and go to Disney.

Thanks. I agree with you but I cannot transfer them. They have been borrowed from another UY so once they are borrowed, I cannot transfer them (very proud of myself since I just learned that this month :rotfl:).
So, these points sit in my 2011 UY and need to be used by
August 31, 2012.
I am not sure I can even donate them to MAW since I would think I would need to transfer them and I can't.
I think I need to just let them go but knew someone on these great boards would have some kind of an idea for me, even to tell me it is finalized, I cannot use them and just forget about them.

Leftover points? This concept is beyond my comprehension.

The agony of it, I understand :scared1:
What's a girl to do with 6 leftover points that cannot be banked or transferred? Just let them go? :confused3

The points could be combined with the 1 time per year purchase of up to 24 points.

I don't know where you are located but you can get 1 night (S-TH) in a studio at HHI in the winter for the points. :upsidedow

Thank you Laura. That would be a great idea but we are already booked for 8 nights end of Aug/beginning of Sept and have 2 other non Disney vacations this summer so I don't want to purchase more points to add a 9th night.

I know you cannot bank them once borrowed, but could you rent them out?
I could rent them out but who the heck wants XX points for a reservation at Disney. I cannot find a room to book that requires XX points.

Well, thank you. That is great to know. I don't live close to HHI but maybe someone that does would want to rent for a night to get away from the kids???

I think this is the best idea. You could probably get a weekend out of XX points.
I don't need to book any more nights at Disney but thanks. I guess if I was looking to book more nights, this would be a good option too.

Oh well, it looks like I may have to just eat them :upsidedow

There is also the possibility points could be reallocated. Were any non-borrowed (actual 2011 UY) points used for your reservation? MS should be able to switch out the points so you could bank those points into your 2012 UY. Then you could borrow 2013 points to use with them later.

This will work as long as you are not swapping out non-home resort points for a reservation made at 11 months. It is worth a call to find out.

Hi Everyone,

I had to edit a lot of threads to remove specifics. Just a reminder, general questions are fine in terms of transfers and/or rentals

Thanks!

Most covered above. The options I see for points that can't be banked or transferred and aren't enough for a night in a studio are the following.

Received points transferred in to combine.
rent points from DVC to make a single night.
reallocate in any existing reservation to have bankable points then maybe borrow from 2013 pts to use those banked points.

Given we're talking less than 7-8 pts it appears, it may not be worth fooling with other than to reallocated and bank if possible.

Laura: Thank you. That is worth a call. But let me ask you.
If I say have a very few handful of points that can be reallocated to Sept. 2012 UY, can I bank them to 2013? I had a larger number of points that MS said were originally borrowed that is why they were put back in my 2011 UY and they told me I had to use them by August 2012. I ended up renting them all with the exception of the handful.

I am SOOOOO sorry! I apologize :worship: You have been so extremely helpful to me last month with explaining the points to me I'm sorry you had to do more work :scared1: Sorry and thanks :flower3:

Going to try that but I don't think it will be possible. I call tomorrow when I'm at work.

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I can't imagine!! :)
Yes, me either! How the heck did I get myself into this little mess of a handful of points left :dance3:
I could have rented them all with the exception of just one but the renter came back to me too late. By that time, I had someone else and now how the handful left. Oh well.

I really wish it could have been given to Make a Wish if they needed but a transfer is not in the cards.

Thank you all so much for all your help. I appreciate it :thumbsup2

Once borrowed or banked, points cannot be reallocated to another UY. But points used within a UY for reservations can be readjusted to use up the borrowed points first. Have MS look at the points used for reservations in your 2011 UY to see if some 2011 UY points can be replaced with the 2012 UY borrowed points. That way the 2011 UY points can then be banked into 2012.

Confusing I know, but I hope this helps.......Laura

Does anyone know if the reservation has to be cancelled and rebooked to do this? I have some borrowed points that I would like to be reallocated but there is no longer any availability for my upcoming trips.
