What To Do With Extra Ticket

Hi all, I'm planning a 10-day/9-night stay at WDW in May with my wife and sister in law at Coronado Springs. My wife and I went last year and had a magical time and we can't wait for our longer trip this year. This is a special trip because it's our last time going kid-free as we plan on having our first kid next year.

We chose only a 5-day ticket (no park hopper) so we could spend the other days at our resort and checking out other resorts we've never seen. We wanted a more relaxing trip but still break it up with theme parks. I'll spare you a long-winded explanation but we essentially had complimentary nights and because of how we booked we've been informed we essentially have 6-day park tickets now (it technically cost us $30 all together for this extra day).

Awesome! We have an extra park ticket for $10/pp. But we planned dinners and other activities at other resorts which has me questioning what to do about our newly found 6th park day. My Disney Travel Agent said I didn't have to use it but I feel it would be wasteful. I did think about Galaxy's Edge popularity (and I'm a big SW fan) and thought it may be nice to use it to check it out further, but it would come at a cost of an "off day". Also it works out that Hollywood Studios is our last park so I'm concerned I might miss out on one of the Star Wars rides. Though I expect FP+ rules to change at Hollywood by May, I'm treating it as if I couldn't FP either to be safe.

I'm including my itinerary below and could really use advice on if I should squeeze in the 6th day and where to do it. Most of our dining is booked so it's hard for me to move around already established park days. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

Day 1: Arrive and enjoy the resort
Day 2: Epcot
Day 3: Relax at resort
Day 4: Magic Kingdom + Villains After Hours
Day 5: Epcot Part 2 (We don't want to hit a new park because Villain After Hours ends at 1AM, we will be exhausted)
Day 6: Relax, maybe go to the Boardwalk resort or mini golf, enjoy Disney Springs at night
Day 7: Maybe Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness or another resort activity
Day 8: Animal Kingdom
Day 9: Hollywood Studios
Day 10: Disney Springs until time to go home

I'd just use it to go back and hit anything you like. The investment was minimal so don't feel like you have to get a whole day out of it. Just go hit a highlight or plan an in-park meal or something. The world is your oyster!

You could take the boat from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom for a few hours. Or go to Boardwalk and pop into Epcot for dinner.

So since it's your last kidless trip, why not bank that day and do the 4 park challenge. 3 things each park (you decide what they are) and just make a fun day of it, assuming these are park hopper tickets.

If not, maybe reserve that day for something you wanted to do and missed at a park or decide it's a stop and smell the roses day, catching the first bus that arrives to whatever park and go enjoy the stuff you typically don't.

I'd switch your days 5 and 6 to have rest day from the parks after villains after hours. Day 3 seems like a good day to add a half-day at HS followed by an afternoon at the resort. A full day at the resort after you've already enjoyed it on arrival day seems like more rest than needed early in the vacation.

I can never get enough at AK. So that's where I'd go.
Granted, I'd never go 10 days and spend 5 in the parks anyway. All extra days are $10 a day at this point. I'd pay the money, get a 9 or 10 day ticket and go each day, even if only for a few hours, 3 FP rides, and go. We just returned from CSR, there's not that much to do there, LOL

OP said they are not hopper tickets.

Just so you know, that's the normal price difference between a 5-day and a 6-day ticket.
Yeah! The real value here is the other days are free for us so we're essentially going to have 6 day tickets for $60 bucks.

What's CSR? I would too but I don't feel like I'd really hit the parks. Taking a leisurely boat ride to Disney Springs and grabbing lunch after waking up at 10AM and knowing there's no rush is a value to me. At the price though, I get why most would opt for the tickets.

I'd try not to worry too much about the extra day - if you'd rather spend it relaxing than going to a park then that's the best option.

But it's also nice that if you decide you want to hit a park for just a couple of hours on one of your off days then you can do that too.

Hi all, I'm planning a 10-day/9-night stay at WDW in May with my wife and sister in law at Coronado Springs. .

FYI - you can't take a boat ride to DS unless you go to one of the PO resorts first, or to the DVC properties, OKW. Not that you can't do that but it's complicated to go resort to resort. Wanted to make sure you realized that.

See, we wake up at 10:00 am and grab a late breakfast, early lunch over at Epcot. That's the beauty of having park tickets for each day. You can go wherever you want. And be leisurely about it

OP: Why plan it ahead of time? Looking at the schedule you have is even almost to structured for me. I may book my FP+ and a few ADRs ahead of time, but I do not think I have had at trip in last 4-5 years where I stuck to my plans fully. I am pretty sure that about 2 trips back, my cousin and I changed every one of out ADRs and only actually did all 3 of our pre-scheduled FPs on one day.

I would just wait until you make on site and see if on one of the days you are not planning to go to a park if you feel like stopping in to grab a bite to eat or do a little shopping. Maybe just treat it like you would spending an hour or two a DS. You could always just grab a random FP while at the park. I

can you ask for PH on the 5 days instead of the 6 days? I'd do that first ;)

Swap Day 5+6 to enjoy a full EPCOT Day 2 or allow for boardwalk with that day since same location.

If stay 6 days -- Dy 7 ropedrop HS with ROTR BG -- or day of departure HS ropedrop with ROTR I would do then DS as they don't open until later anyways.

Yes, we plan on checking out other resorts this trip. We stayed in French Quarter last year. In this case we actually will be taking a bus to DS and then the boat to Port Orleans for a dinner :)

I'm a wing it kind of person so that is what I'd do. Maybe after one of your resort days you decide you don't want another full one, so you hop on the first park bus to arrive and go just enjoy the park. You don't have to ride any rides or you can ride rides, just go with it.

When I go solo I usually take a couple of days to do the morning at a park, decide what kind of resort I want to tour - deluxe, moderate, value - go to that bus stop area and hop on the first bus to arrive. I then go tour the resort and hop on the first park bus to arrive and either go to that park if I want to for a few hours or transfer to a bus or walk back to my resort if it's a HS or Epcot bus and do some pool/bar time. I've toured just about every property on site now doing it this way. Before I had done them all, I'd do a monorail resort tour, or do an Epcot resort tour, or do the All Stars since you can walk between all of them, or do POR/POFQ, etc. I think the only resort I have not been to this way is SOG and we actually used to stay there before it was military only.

It’s nice to hit a park in the evening on day 1. Do a few rides and watch a nighttime show. And if you don’t have to leave too early on departure day hit up a favorite ride (or more) one last time.
