What to do with 14 points

We just closed last month on a resale contract at BWV with full points for 2016, 2017, and 14 banked points from 2015 that have to be used before March 1st. I'm running the Goofy Challenge in January and have booked a standard studio room at SSR for the last night I'm there for 11 points, but there aren't any studio rooms available for the other 3 nights I'll be down there. There is a 1BR at SSR for 27 points but, frankly, that's overkill since it will just be me. I may go ahead and bite the bullet and book it anyway because it seems ridiculous for me to move from where I'll be staying (All Star Music) on Sunday AFTER I've just run the marathon to SSR to spend less than 12 hours. I'm torn between losing 14 points and using at least some of them even if I have to move on my final day after completing the Goofy Challenge.

Here are my options, I'd love to get your input:

  • Spend 3 nights at ASMusic then move to SSR on Sunday for one night.
  • Book a 1BR at SSR to go with the studio I already have booked and spend 2 nights there - not as much stress and I'll be in a 1BR before I run the marathon. Additionally waitlist Saturday night studio just in case one somehow becomes available. Downside is I'm burning 27 (well, really 24 points) from my 2017 allotment.
  • Scratch the whole SSR stay and just stick to ASMusic for the entire trip - don't have to worry about moving around and the room is already budgeted and paid for. Downside is I lose 14 points.
Thanks guys,

Put them up for rent on the rent/trade board, use the cash to help oay for your ASM trip

How quickly does the whole renting process typically take, from listing them to money in the bank? I'm a new DVC member and am trying to figure out how this all works. Would probably use a resell store to list them...

Thx!

Not sure that 14 points would even be something the brokers would do, best bet would be on the board here, check out the rent/trade board, look into it at least. Better than wasting the points, unless you can get that one night booked and then just switch resorts.

I was in the same boat-finalized a contract in Mid Oct with 16 points expiring Nov 30. I found a Black Friday night studio open at Saratoga, booked it, and threw it on Craigslist for $195. I had 40 messages the next morning. Easy money and it paid for a 1/2 years worth of dues.
