What to do with 10-day tickets that I have no idea when will ever get used?

My wife and I each have a 10-day ticket that we were supposed to use last year but our trip was cancelled due to everything. Well we are now expecting our first child in a few months and don't see how we could ever fully utilize a 10 day ticket for a very very long time haha. Our future trips will most likely not be able to last that long. I know that these tickets will never go away and we could always use them towards the purchase of new 10-day tickets in the future. However, is there anything at all that can be done to some how get value out of these tickets before we ever get a chance again to take a 10 day trip?

Have you linked them to your MDE account?
if not you can sell them and if so, sometimes you can transfer them to another person in your account.
That would have to be a friend or family member though since you can’t want randoms in tour account

I didn't step foot into WDW again until my daughter (our first and only) was around 1.5, but then I wanted to take her all the time after that (Covid prevented it). You might find that you'll want to use those tickets sooner than you think, though I understand your feelings right now. Children have free admission until they are 3, so its popular to take a child right before their 3rd birthday. Your family might be up to a 10 day wdw trip by then.

If they are base tickets, you could put the value toward a shorter length park hopper + water park ticket or, if APs ever come back, you could put the value toward APs and take multiple, shorter trips throughout the course of your AP use-year.

It doesn't have to be an exact 10-day ticket, just one of equal or greater value. If you may not be back for a couple of years, the value of those 10-day tickets may be equivalent to a 7 or 8 day ticket at that point. Or as PP suggests - hopper or waterparks add-on, or an upgrade to AP.

Remember, kids 2 and under are FREE. You might find a 10 day trip to be PERFECT once your baby gets to be is a bit older so that you can take plenty of breaks. We travelled extensively with our oldest until he turned 3 and we had to start paying for him :rolleyes1 So many amazing memories from those first trips with him.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I did forget about the fact that kids under 3 are free. That could definitely open up some possibilities. Just out of curiosity to the people who have traveled with kids under 3, when was point you felt comfortable going on a plane with your little one?

My sister and niece are both nurses (one at St. Jude's) and they agree at 6 months and the first round of vaccinations, that it's generally safe for a baby to travel and fly. Obviously, check with your pediatrician when you begin to make plans, but that is their rule of thumb.

Also: Congratulations! BEST reason to put off a trip, ever!

I think it probably depends on the temperament of the baby and your comfort level, but we took our DD on her first plane ride at 6mo and it was great! I just held her and nursed as needed. She slept most of the time. She flew again at 11mo in her own seat in the car seat. We took lots of toys and snacks and she was great on the plane. I think it was harder when she started walking and didn’t want to sit in one place for too long. We were planning to take DS to WDW at 6mo (DD would have been 5) but COVID canceled our plans, too!

edited to add: and yes, congratulations!!!!! :)

So exciting! We took our daughter on a plane at 5 weeks and frequently after that. I agree to check with your pediatrician and wait to see when you feel comfortable.

Our DD was 3 when we first took her to Disney. She was born early and we had to give her a good year to grow (and for us to finally get some regular sleep again) until we felt comfortable to travel that far and break up our routines. I would definitely hang onto those tickets!!

We traveled on a plane to Disney World when my daughter was 14 months (4 nights), then again when my kids were 3.75 and 20 months (7 nights), then again when my kids were 5 and 2 years 11 months (8 nights). Each trip was amazing! I would have happily done 10 nights if I had the money and time for that. My kids loved Disney World at all ages so far.

Both my kids we took Disney trips when they were 12 weeks old. I went right at the end of my maternity leave before returning to work. We fly and had no issues. Between the 2, we have hit pretty much every age, and the newborn and infant trips until they could start walking were by far some of the easiest and most relaxed that we have done.

Our oldest flew 9 hours n/s to Hawaii @ 18 months.

Our youngest flew the 2.25 hours n/s to WDW @ 11 months.

I think it depends on the child.

My daughter was born in August and we flew to WDW in December. We then flew to England with her a few months later and then to Japan just about when she turned one. Her baby passport is adorable.

We took out youngest on a plane at 3 months. 😳 Of course that was pre covid. I found going to the parks with a baby who couldn’t walk was so much easier than going with a toddler who wanted to be out of the stroller all the time. For us, 9 months was a sweet spot. Sleeping through the night, eating some solid foods, but content to nap and people watch from the stroller when we were out and about.

That being said, unless you have other adults with you, you can’t ride any rides together. :(

That's not true. We rode TONS of stuff with the baby. Pretty much anything without a height restriction you can ride unless they specifically say no handheld infants. All of Fantasyland except Mine Train, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Buzz, TTA, Jungle Cruise, Dumbo, Aladdin, Safari, Navi River, Triceratops Spin, Train to Conservation station, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Mexico Boat Ride, Frozen, Imagination, Nemo, Toy Story Mania and I am almost positive Mickey's Runaway Railway. Not to mention all the shows and 3D movies. I am sure I am missing a few, but those are off the top of my head. There are TONS you can do with a baby at Disney!

That’s true. There is a ton to ride together. I guess I should have specifically said thrill rides. :)

I got a question. How about if I purchased a 10 day ticket and could only use 5. Can I just use the remaining days later on by changing them for new ones (I assume paying the difference between the cost then and now? Will they charge for the entire 10 days again or only for the days that were unused.
