What to do- who to contact??

We are planning an early/mid February trip (before President's week). My DH would like to stay at POR again, which is fine by me. However, money is really tight right now. I really want to make my reservations soon so I can go ahead and make my ADR's as well (which I'll be able to do as of August 10th). My questions are:
Should I go through Disney or a TA (like Dreams Unlimited or other)?

If I go through Disney, then who do I contact so that we don't have to pay in full right now (which I know you have to do if you do it online).
Would I have to pay in full if I use a TA?

I'm just looking to make a deposit to hold our room for as long as possible. I rememer reading somewhere (don't remember where) that there was a number to call in Disney that would hold your room with only charging you a one-nights deposit until you checked in, or within a few weeks before your trip (again, sorry- can't remember which!)

I know that prices for February don't come out until August (the 5th I heard?), but since that's next week, I need to make a decision soon!

I can't speak for all TAs but with AAA you don't have to have it paid in full until 45 days before you leave. You make a deposit. We made payments for months.

You have to be paid in full 45 days in advance if you book a package. For a room only you pay one night deposit and the rest when you check in. That would be for travel agencies and individuals.

So if I do a room only (which is what I want), is it pay one night only/rest at check in for both Disney direct or a TA? Does anyone know who I should contact if I go straight through Disney?

Remember that you don't need a reservation to make ADR's at the 180 day mark. All having a reservation does is get you a few extra days under the 180+10 rule.
