What to do when raining

Iooking at the forecast for next week there is a thunderstorm predicted for Thursday. What should we do when it rains? Do things change in the parks? What rides will go down? Hoping it won't rain but want to be prepared if it does

The first thing to remember is that the SoCal long range forecast is the most inaccurate thing on this earth. Most rides will stay open in the rain. I'm not sure of RSR as it is new but even with a few closures there will still be plenty to do.

Continue to ride things? By the time you come off the next ride, it will usually be over.

What do you do?...you go on a marathon of E ticket rides as all of the non-dedicated fans scramble back to the hotel as the park clears!...then change in to dry clothes once it stops.

Lol - and totally true!

If you don't want to get hit with the rain, get in line for one of the rides with a lot of cover (like Space Mt.) or else spend the drizzle shopping down Main Street, or any of the other stores along the way. Or get something to eat at an indoor restaurant.

For me, it just depends on how hard it's raining.

Oregonians would say to just keep on with what you were doing, unless there is lightning, in which case find something to do indoors until it passes. Perhaps bring some inexpensive rain ponchos (~$1.99)?

As a PP mentioned the forecasts are notoriously inaccurate this far out.

I've experienced rain in both DL & WDW, and the marvelous thing is that it can really clear out the crowd. Take advantage of it!

Just keep on having fun! Wear ponchos if you dont want to get wet and plan indoor rides. I don't know if outdoor rides like big thunder or tea cups stay open? I would think heavier rain might be a problem for those types of rides. But as others have said, dont rely on that forecast and if it does rain it will probably be short lived. Enjoy the lower crowds too!

I was just there in February during some serious torrential rains. I still had a lot of fun with the help of ponchos and mid day breaks to change clothes and shoes.

teacups will likely close.

Screamin' will feel like needles are being thrown in your face.

Might as well just go on Grizzly. :)

Just go enjoy.

Our very first trip as grownups should have been bad, because we left my brother's place in San Diego too late, it took too long to park and tram over. I think we were entering at 11. :scared1::eek:

But as we were approaching Anaheim, it started to rain. Everyone LEFT. We walked into an empty park and had a terrific day. And it took a couple hours after the rain stopped for people to start trickling back in. Awesome. Have fun!

We're from Oregon, so we keep on going!

I've left the parks one time when it was raining, however, we were only like an hour from park closing, DD was hungry, and it was a serious downpour, even in comparison to Oregon winter raining.

Otherwise, we throw on a poncho or rain coat, and enjoy the decreased crowds! Even on inside, E-ticket rides, the lines are a lot shorter. We were able to do Space Mountain several times in a row.

Wear rain gear (waterproof pants and jacket, rain hat) and ignore the rain :goodvibes
Good quality rain gear is much better than a poncho or umbrella.

When ElecTronica was in DCA, pouring rain created a scene from Blade Runner (except there were no crowds in the street).

Wear a poncho, bring a change of shoes and socks, and bring a "sham my", to wipe off water that collects on the seats of the rides. :teacher:

Ride, ride, ride! Then go get your photo in from of the Castle with not a soul behind you. :thumbsup2

Tough it out. If anything lines are shorter IF it rains. We were there at the end of August and I don't believe it ever rains in California.

Yup, ride ride ride. We're from Nor Cal and we never once left DLR when it was raining. It's great in the rain, even with soaking wet feet and pants it was great fun. We could walk onto rides all over the park(s). We did take a Sham-Wow to wipe off seats as we could, this was super easy, as we were getting ready to board we took the shammy out of the Ziploc baggie, and as we got on the ride whoever was boarding first wiped the seat as they passed through. It was a great solution to not sitting on wet seats, especially for outdoor rides, like IASW. lol We also had umbrellas and ponchos, and we put dry socks, shoes and sweatshirts in a locker and we went back during the day to change as we needed to. It was really great, wet, yes, but great. lol

It rains, not so much down South, but up here in the North it even snows.....haha ;) It snows in So Cal too. ;) But it pours rain up here in the North.
