My husband and I always carry our own luggage! Is this a problem? We went on a Grand Gatherings trip in May and we watched our DFIL tip the sky cap, tip the town car driver, tip the WDW guy who removed the luggage from the car, tip another WDW guy for bringing the luggage to the room so he was out $30.00 bucks and had just got the luggage to his room!

I just wondered, if there is a problem with us saying "no thanks" and carrying our own luggage? We have pullmans so its not like its a big deal! We will switch hotels and move our own luggage!

Also, as far as Mousekeeping, I clean the room, place the garbage by the door, replace the garbage bags in the cans as they leave the rolls in the cans, I leave all my used towels and the like by the door, I make my bed, I wipe down all the surfaces. I don't see the point in tipping someone to remove the laundry and garbage when I have gathered it all for them by the door!

I LOVED the episode of 3rd Rock from the Sun, when the man, not sure of his name, only saw the show a couple of times, slapped down a pile of ones, told the waitress that all of them was her potential tip, she could have money taken away, and added back dependent on her doing her job! I am sure I am gonna get in a lot of trouble for this but sometimes that is how I feel!

The only luggage handler we tip is the skycap when we do curbside check in at the airport. We carry our own bags to the room.

We also carry our own bags whenever practical (esp. staying at OKW or VWL ... we're staying in a wing at the CR next month and will lug them, then, too). The one time we didn't was at AKL when we knew we were at the far end of one of the wings. It was worth the $5 to have our bags brought to us!! LOL

If you are on vacation--why are you doing all of this? Do you not want them in your room at all?

Sounds like you need to do DVC--they only do mild cleanings midweek and full cleanings after a week.

We tipped mousekeeping at WL during Frances--and all they did was change out trash and towels. We did get one day of service before the hurricane arrived and they made my DD4 a towel angel and set up all of her stuffed animals that evac'd with us to the hotel. So I tipped for that. But usually, it is an afterthought and we never plan on tipping--but we haven't vacationed there lately--usually our stays are 1 night or 2, so at most we just get one cleaning.
