Next trip I hope to have my 2 DD's (ages 4 and 6) attend the Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. Now I'm just trying to decide what to do with my DS who will be almost 3 during the 1 hour the girls are at the tea party. (I'd send him, too, but he's not old enough.)

How is the playground at the Grand Floridian?
And what about riding the monorail? Will we be able to ride up front?

I'm trying to think of something sort of special that he will enjoy, too. He is going to be disappointed that his sisters are doing something without him (but my DD's will lvoe this tea party and I don't want them to miss it, either *sigh*). Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

You should definately take a monorail ride and if you talk to the CM and are willing to wait there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to ride up front. When you do be sure and ask for the copilots license!

I haven't been to the playground at GF but since the CR and Poly have terrific playgrounds I can't imagine the GF wouldn't be nice as well.

There are lots of fun things to do at the lobby of the Poly as well as in the Neverland Club (also at the Poly) maybe you could get off the monorial there and take a peek. My girls made their own leis (sp) and pipecleaner animals, there is often a ukelele player in the lobby as well.

If you have more than one adult in the party maybe you can spit up. If one adult could wait for the girls at the teaparty and the other take the son that would open up lots of other adventures.

The FT wilderness has a petting zoo and pony rides and my girls Loved the CSR dig site. You wouldn't be able to use the pool but the playground at CSR was terrific and there was a dig site where you could dig up bones.

What about renting a water mouse boat for 30 minutes while the girls are at the tea party? There is a marina right there, you can cruise around the lagoon on the boat. I would guess that would be a high point of any 3 year olds vacation!

that leaves from the GF as well...its a "search for pirate treasure around the Seven Seas Lagoon" I think its $25/child...not sure. Life jackets and pirate loot are included!:D

oh, wait, I just reread that he's only three - won't be an option. The water mice are a blast, and would get my three year old nephew's vote! "GO FASTER!!!!!":D

You only have one hour so I would suggest hopping the monorail and going to the Contemporary and going to their arcade. Its awesome. The only problem you will have is dragging him out of there. There are games that you get tickets to redeem for prizes so that will help him feel special too. I know another poster mentioned the neverland club at the poly, it is my understanding that those activities are for resort guests only from 12-4 (don't know if you are staying there). The poly beach is cool if you want an outdoor versus indoor activitiy, bring a bucket and shovel etc.

On our last trip, we only had an hour or two between arrival at GF and a dinner. Husband grabbed DD and took the monorail to MK, then the boat back to GF. They had a blast. I can't remember there being a playground at GF? There is a beach, but you can't go in the water on the shore because it stirs up some bacteria that could make him sick. DD went on Pirate cruise when she was 3.5 yrs. A little scared at first, but she is outgoing so she made friends fast.

The last 2 times we dropped my daughter off at the Tea party and took my now 18 month old for lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe then chasing him around the hotel grounds for 15 mins. Yes ther is a playground as well. We do the lunch because that his usual time to eat and my DD gets to eat at the tea party they have sandwiches and other goodies there for them. The water mouse sounds like a great idea and I might try that in April. Also if he is really close to 3 he might the party to my dd went at 31 months with her cousins and had a great time. As long as they are potty trained it shouln't be a problem I just said she was three that's what she told everyone anyway :) . They give you a beeper so if there's a problem so no worries if you stay close by

You could always take your swimsuits, change in the changing rooms by the pool, and take a dip. Quick and simple. As long as you're staying at another Disney resort, you can pool hop (at least, I'm pretty certain this is the case).
