what to do w/ carry on bags after boarding?

I have taken all the suggestions about bringing a day bag with swim suits, etc on board as a carry on. Plus, I'd have some wine in there and my cosmetics, etc. How long is it before one can get into the stateroom? What do you do with the carry-on stuff during that time? Thanks!

1pm is when staterooms come available. Till then you schlep it around.

Maybe that's the one good (?) thing about taking a DCL bus to the port from WDW....You don't get there until after 1pm, anyway, so no schlepping required.

If there is no rope blocking off your rooms, you can go down and drop them off. Ours were open before 1.

Schlepp them around - and they can get heavy.

We ate in Parrot Cay and they had some spots to stash bags while you ate -- that took 40 minutes worth of schlepping away. Then we registered the kids for the clubs - and had them with us.

Next time, lighter carry on bags.

DS(8) has a backpack w/ wheels that he'll be taking. I know for a fact he'd be complaining big time about carrying a bag for any length of time. If I can find a wheeled carry on size bag I'll probably get one for myself.

True. But the room stewards are freshening up the rooms from the last cruise that disembarked at 8am that same day. As they do a full turnout between cruises, they are never done by 1pm and you may not even have access to your room cleaned after 1.

We've been able to drop our bags off in our rooms shortly after boarding while the crew was still working on the room. Even Last year we were still able to do this (maybe because we were in a SPR). Have heard that you have to wait now.

Hi Kelli...
I use a set of "wheels" to put my bag on and bungee cord it to the back of my scooter and tow it around...What a sight! Looks like a 1-woman wagon train with dog....The whole contraption works for handi-schlepping but is really too long to get into the elevators. Luckily the stateroom was ready when I arrived and the DIS-porter was able to help with the elevator problem....
There must be a better way... :chat:
