Need some help and if this is on the wrong board let me know. I have 5 points that must be used by Oct 1. My parents can't use them either as their next trip is not until end of Oct. Obviously I can't bank them. SO what's a girl to do? I've never had unused points in the 10 yrs I've had them so I'm lost. I've watched the rent/trade board looking for someone that could use them but haven't seen anything obvious and I'm a little intimidated as to how to post them....I'd donate them if I could but I don't know where I could do that either.....Any help/advice for me...thanks

Are you sure you can't bank them? If these are 2006 points and you haven't already banked 25% for 2006 then you have until July 31. If they are 2005 points then you are right, they can't be banked.

I have 3 points that were banked from 2005 that we are not using. Sept use year. I too would donate them. Going to keep an eye on this thread.

You can't donate points unless the recipient charity already had a DVC account...which is pretty unlikely. Without an account, the recipient would have no way to use the points.

You can make a ressie and make that ressie available to the charity of your choice. In that case, you'd have to make all of the arrangements since you are the DVC account holder.

Donations of points or ressies are not tax-deductible, AFIK. I think the only situation where a DVC donation would be deductible would be if you donated your entire account until expiration.

I didn't mean to charity as a tax deduction. I just ment if someone needed 3 extra points I would give them away, this way someone can get use out of them. Sorry for the missunderstand.

In that case, you could transfer them to any member who wanted three points.

Keep in mind, however, that you are limited to one transfer (in OR out) per Use Year. So a three-point transfer would be it for both you and the recipient. That would be fine if neither of you wanted to do any additional transfers, but might not be fine otherwise.

Donating would not be for tax purpose...5 pts certainly would not create a huge tax advantage;)

If I transfer is it counted against this use year in my case oct to oct??? Or does it count against the use year of the points??? In this case Oct 05???

I just hate the idea of giving them to someone who would not truly benefit. What I mean is I would like to avoid giving them to someone who's going to turn around a sell them. I could do that. But if there's someone whose just trying to complete a reservation and only needs 5 points then how would I word that??? I know there's been years where I only needed a couple points to complete a reservation and I would have like to done it w/out borrowing from the following use year. Does that make sense????

Honestly it's only 5 points and if I lose them Oh well but I was just looking for options and what other folks do with them...

And believe me if they were bankable I'd bank those turkeys. I actually had 65 to use but friends of ours were going so I was able to use 60 for them and gave them a really good deal:thumbsup2 I just couldn't get a room for 65 points. It was 60 or more points than I was willing to borrow! SO now I have 5 points.

If these are banked 2005 points they can't be transferred.

How about borrowing a few points from next use year and making a quick trip down to WDW for the F&W opening weekend?

Correct, points that are banked or borrowed can not be transferred. So the OP is out of luck, there.

That would be the best solution, a quick trip before the points expire.
