What to do the first night????

Our first day plan is always to get an early flight so we arrive between 10:00 &11:00. We hop on the ME and try to check into our room. If it's not available, we just put our bags at the luggage services. I always have a park bag packed inside my carryon so I can just grab that out. Then we grab a quick bite of lunch at the resort and hop a bus to the Magic Kingdom. We just have to walk under the train station and up Main St to get going. We spend a little time there and then head over to Epcot for a great big dinner. After dinner we usually just mosy around a little and make it an early evening (no fireworks on this day). By this time, dh and I are exhausted, but happy. We hit the sack and get up early the next day.

The price difference between another's day ticket is so small, it's worth it to get it. We even go to the parks our last day as much as possible. We hit early morning extended hours that day and go until we need to leave for the ME back to the airport. We love starting and ending our trip this way. In the middle of our trip we do take midday breaks, but not on our first and last days.

Our dd is not a shopper and we took her to downtown disney one time. She just complained the whole time. Not for us. We can shop at home. When we are at Disney, it's all Disney all the time! LOL

My family usually goes grocery shopping then gets a qucik dinner then we just relax. We drove down from NY so we take the first night to relax after the 20 hour trip.

Another great first night suggestion would be to go to DTD get a quick bit to eat then do some shopping.

Another vote for DTD. Have a look around and get yourself in a Disney sort of mood and then try for a reasonably early night so that you can be up early for your first day.

We arrive at our resort around 3pm on the first day, so we don't hit the parks (also because we have a 10 day hopper on an 11 day trip). Our long standing tradition is to book a dinner at Chef Mickeys for around 6pm, we then take the monorail from CR to EPCOT and back. Then we catch wishes from the outdoor patio at CR and then its off to DTD for a little shopping. That puts us right in the Disney mood, although I must admit, it doesn't take much!
:goodvibes

On our last trip we spend one afternoon resort hopping and had a blast. When we come down this time we are staying off site the first night. We plan on resort hopping again then going to the poly for the water parade and fireworks.

How about a trip to a water park? We did that on one of our trips and really enjoyed it! We flew in, checked in and went off to the Blizzard Beach. After a few hours, the others in our group drove into town and we all met for dinner and then early to bed. The kids were 16, 14 and 10 (18 year old had to have a longer nap so no BB for him):rotfl:

We had the same decision you had and what we did was get unpack and settle then went to Kona at the Poly for dinner and then went outside to sit on the beach and wait for the Electrical Parade and then fireworks. It was wonderful. We even went back once more before our trip was over. It was relaxing and the kiddos ran around in the sand. It is a beautiful resort and you will love taking pics around the resort as well. You could also do the same at the Grand Floridian they even have the music piped in. Enjoy:cool1:

I'd suggest snagging an ADR at the new TRex (1-407-828-TREX) and leisurely shop your way around those areas. The World of Disney store has absolutely everything you'd see in the parks or resorts and there are many smaller shops that are fabulous to wander around in: everything from glass blowers to sports equipment. The Art of Disney Store, on your right as you enter through the bus drop off area is one of the most unique and enchanting stores in all of the World. I've found that when I make quality time in DTD, I've find items that are no where else :goodvibes

We are arriving at 3pm and we're going straight to DHS. I would be too antsy being in Disney and not going to a Disney park on that first night, but that's just me!
