What to do- POP or a Mod or Dolphion?

Oh my!!!

Ok - so I think I want to book 12/21-12/25 this year (I know - late planning). It would just be my 15 year old son and I. I know that the crowds will be bad, but it is SO fun to be at Disney for the holidays! We would take an early flight on the 21st (get there before noon) and a late flight on the way back.

Here's my question - POP or a Mod? If a Mod, which one? The cost difference is ~$300 total. I was thinking we should go as cheap as possible on-site, but would we enjoy our down-time more at a moderate? Are the moderates more festive during the holidays? Added cost of transportation for the Dolphin.

Also - to park-hop or not to park hop. I save another $100 (roughly) if I don't park hop our tickets. As many times as I have been to Disney, I have not hopped (even though I could)! Is there more of a likelyhood to need to because of crowds?

Any opinions are appreciated.

the Pop is fine.

Pop was when we were in Dec - very festavial - a big christmas tree in the main building and each elevator something else - not a tree - okay just don't remember.

can you still get Pop at this late date?

Yes - can get POP and several mods since check-out is the 25th. My guess is that a lot of people have Christmas at home and bring the kids after?

I would choose the Dolphin for the location. You can walk or take a water taxi to Epcot and MGM. I like to walk through Epcot and take the monorail to MK, but there is transportation to MK and AK about every 15-20 minutes. Go to swandolphin.com and look for feedback/transportation

you can still take a Mears shuttle - less expensive for just 2 people. you don't need a towncar or taxi to get back and forth to the airport.

I vote for the dophin because it has the BW festivities right there. You can go to the Beach Club, BW and Yacht Club and check out the gingerbread houses, christmas village and the chocolate carousel!!

I just love the BW area and its so close to MGM and Epcot!!

The Dolphin! It's a great hotel. You'll love the comfy beds and the Boardwalk area is great all the time but especially during thr holidays.

We stayed at POR and CBR the last 3 Dec trips and they are not that decorated for the holiday..just a bit in the lobby area but that was it.

I would take the Dolphin so I could walk to the very festive BC/YC and BW resorts and add park hoppers.
