Hi. Sorry hope this is right spot for this. Our arrival day in about a month we will arrive around noon. Wondering what all there is to do in the area that may be fun and inexpensive! Have Disney Springs (been several times) and possibly going to look at a Disney Resort property on the agenda loosely. Any advice or other options? Can you still ride a monorail without a park ticket? Which resorts would be fun to see or explore? Stayed at Art of Animation last trip and have stayed at and looked at the Pop Century resorts, traveling with a 6, 12, and 13 year old. Thanks!!

Yes.

We love exploring the monorail loop resorts, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness! Another fun thing to do would be find the Hidden Mickey's, I know that if you ask the front desk at Wilderness Lodge they will give you a free list of them (I'm not sure about any of the other resorts).

We usually swim for the late morning/afternoon and then go to Chef Mickeys for dinner....but it's been 4 long, very long years and I have another year to go...

Anyways, we do one of our 2 TS meals on this day since I refuse to do TS on park days.

You could head over to AKL (both locations) and check out the animals, plus the store at Jambo House.

We are going to play mini golf in the morning before it gets too hot (August) and then swim at the resort and then a nice dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse at night!

The mini golf courses by the Swan and Dolphin (near the Boardwalk resort) were a lot of fun the last time we did them. One of them is Disney-themed.

Not sure what resort you are staying at, but we like to relax at our resort, then take the monorail to one of the other resort restaurants.

Ride the monorail, stop at each resort. Mini golf. Where are you staying?
Hi, thanks all! We rented a condo at Vista Cay per some great stuff I read about them on dis ;)

So you can take a Disney bus from DS to AKL then a monorail somewhere from AKL? It stop there... ty sorry I feel so lost, lol.

Is there a lot to see and can you see animals etc. if not staying there? TY!!

Yes, you could take a Disney bus from DS to AKL, but the monorail does not go to AKL. There are three monorail loops - from the TTC to/from Epcot, the loop that stops at the resorts (Poly, GF and CR) as well as the MK and the TTC, and the express loop that goes from the TTC to/from the MK with no other stops.

You can see some of the animals from the viewing decks at AKL.

The Wanyama Safari is for AKL guests only, but most activities are open to all. We love visiting the resort!

Honestly, if your are staying off property, I would find something to do at your resort, or nearby. Looks like there are some cool mini-golf courses by your resort - Congo River, Pirate's Cove, Hollywood, etc. then I would swim :)
