The staff you would need to help you with that new contract work Mon-Fri.
Quality Assurance is currently working 9 AM - 7 PM, 7 days a week.

BillSo, OP bought a new VGF contract as a new member and a few days later he called to add his GF's name? Could he not have just added her as an associate to the account without changing his deed...like I could call or go online to add my mom if I wanted to (she would be able to use our account and get perks, but she would not be on deed)? Then, OP would not have needed a new account.

Oversights happen....fine. How can Disney not have anyone on staff to help me when they open up booking to all new owners? ...
You can try going on a wait list and book something else for those dates in the meantime. Unfortunately, you would likely have to book them with CRO, since that is a very busy time for DVC members, and most available units will be booked up now.As ppl have said, associates do not get the perks/discounts, they can make or change reservations.
I am in retail, so I know from first hand experience that I do not always understand what the customer is asking me. (I also would not 'launch' something huge on a sunday, and not have all the staff their to support it) I am 95%+ certain I asked if I was all set to go for Sunday (because I was told it wasn't a big deal to add my GF since I WAS NOT financing). I know I told my guide I would be calling at 9am Sunday morning.
Anyway, in the "fix the problem not the blame" vein, I just want to know the best way to go to try and get my dates.
My date range was 12/1 - 12/11.
I know already that 3 days were unavailable in my date range(Friday, sat, sunday), so I had to do a split stay, and I was ok with that. I am not going to try and 'demand' those dates. I just want to get the dates, that to the best of my knowledge, were still available on Sunday morning, and the best way to go about trying to accomplish that.
And I am quite flexible, I can bump my stay out to 12/8-12/18 (though not my first choice). Split stay is fine too, as long as i get at least one part of it in VGF
The question still remains if I should have gotten a new member ID or not
In reality yes, because your GF is not on your other account(s)! Different owners, necessitates a new account but maybe adding her after the fact makes a difference? ! I wonder if they will scrutinize the issue at a later date! At least you have a reservation, it's a start!

Does OP have another account? I thought he bought new VGF (as a new DVC member) and then added GF to that very same contract/deed. If he has just this one new contract of X points at VGF, then I would think he'd need to wait for the recorded deed to come back and then have it re-recorded with GF's name on it (that's what we have to do to fix an error on our deed that just recorded...and our member # did and will remain the same...points were even loaded last week), but he should have kept same member number and had access to his points.
Sorry somewhere in the thread I got lost, I thought you had an existing account/contract with points and this VGF contract was an additional purchase! Then no, it should be one contract with the same contract number! A year back I contacted MS about adding my son when he's 18 and was advised it was easy and nothing would change as my membership is paid in full! I asked if he would be sent a card of his own and they said yes, and my card would stay the same!To be clear I did not buy a second contract.
Again, thanks for the help everyone.

Thanks for clarifying whether you had one contract or two. You would think that since you had not closed yet, they could just edit your contract info and add your GF. It sounds like they cancelled your initial purchase and started over. Perhaps your guide assumed that it was just a simple edit and that is why he didn't warn you about the new member number. It seems like a reasonable assumption to me.To be clear I did not buy a second contract.
December 2012 - See VGF being built, called when i got home, asked to be contacted when it was going up for sale
Memorial day - my guide calls and tells me its for sale.
About a week later - I call....I would like to buy 150 points.
June 19th - Charge (for the deposit) hits my Credit card, guide calls me "welcome home...here is your member number"
june 20th - I call my guide and inquire to difference between an associate and owner for my GF. I do not buy any additional points. Add GF
If you had purchased two contracts (one for you, one for you and GF) then yes, a new member number would be required for the second one because it is titled differently. Since you bought just one contract and added your GF as co-owner, it's not clear why they couldn't just edit the contract information. Perhaps their system does not allow that kind of change or perhaps it was an error on the part of whoever made the change. The fact that it left you stranded on Sunday was not good. I hope that you things go more smoothly for you from now on.Some on here still say I should I have gotten a new member number. My guide called me yesterday (6/24) and said no, since i was not financing my purchase, I should not have gotten one.
A couple of times when adding on direct I decided to change the number of points. Rather than it being an edit they cancelled the first one (that was already loaded) and redid a new one so it's not surprising to me that yours was handled that way OP although I wouldn't think it would have to happen that way.
So, my family will be at WDW on Dec. 1 & 2, what time do you want us over for drinks jerseyduke?![]()
