We are traveling as a family to a cousins bridal shower in a few weekends. I thought the kids might enjoy getting away and we'll probably stay at a hotel with an indoor pool.

However, the shower is at 1pm on Sunday and I'm pretty sure we'll all have to be checked out of the room by then. So, does anyone have any good ideas as to what DH can do with twin 2yos and a 6yo (all boys) while I spend the afternoon with the gals?

If you like Star Wars the Franklin Institue is have a Star Wars Exhibit. It starts on Feb 9th. The car show runs from Feb 2-10th. I am not sure of the prices to get in to these two things.

You could visit the Liberty Bell, Ride the Ducks, go to Dave and Busters.

Are you staying in the city and if not will you have your own car?

The Please Touch Museum is great for little ones. If it's nice weather, the Phila Zoo is great. Or they could take the ferry across to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

I was going to suggest these too! The Franklin Institute is cool, but it might be a little above your kids age levels. (my kids are dying to go to the Star Wars exhibit!!!)

I'm going to recommend the Please Touch Museum too. There would be enough for the all of the kids to do.

The Please Touch Museum, the Adventure Aquarium in Camden (take the ferry), we really like the aquarium, if they like Dinosaurs, the Academy of Natural Science.

I really like the Please Touch Museum. It looks much like the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester we visited this summer. My only concern is I remember having a tough time keeping track of everyone and it was a bit worrisome at times (and that was with 2 adults). :scared: Has anyone been to both that can make a comparison. At Strong we were constantly on the edge because most exhibits had multiple exits.

Is there any sort of indoor playplace--think McDonalds but larger that only has 1 exit so even if DH can't see the kids at all times he can at least know they are in there somewhere?

TIA

Hmm it has been awhile since I was at the Please Touch Museum but I know the kind of place you are talking about, we went to a place in Baltimore that the kids could exit on all the different floors, it was a nightmare.

Are you going to be in Philly the city or in the suburbs? That might help give you more options too.

The shower is actually in Delaware at the Robinson House in Claymont. I'm looking for a hotel with an indoor pool and something for DH to do with the kids near Linwood, PA. We're from NW NJ and I've never been to these areas.

I just don't want to send DH someplace that is going to stress him out and leave me stressed out while I'm at the shower worrying about him and the kids. I know that I would not have wanted to have the 3 kids at the Strong Museum myself this summer.

I am not familar with Linwood, when you do find a hotel can you ask for a late checkout so he can hang at the pool longer. Is there a Chuck E Cheese near by? Or the moonbounce type places that you can pay for your kids to go nuts in for a little while.

I google Linwood, you DH could come up Rt322 to this place, I think. They renovated it at the end of the summer and took out the mini golf so I dont know all the changes that were made.

But the soft playground was one way in one way out. My kids love it there but like I said it has been a few months. This would probably be much closer than anything in Philly unless he really want to do something in town.

Also google Wilmington, DE there might be fun family things there to do.

Thanks again.

I was also going to recommend Oasis Family Fun Center. It would probably be about a 20 minute drive from Linwood and the kids will love it! There are now 2 soft playgrounds inside and each one only has one way in and out. They also have arcade games, rock climbing, a laser maze and a snack bar. Your husband could easily spend a couple hours there with the kids while you are at the shower. My DDs LOVE it there!!! :) Hope that helps.

ETA - If your husband has his heart set on going into the city, I would second the Please Touch Museum or the Camden Adventure Aquarium for kids that age. Franklin Institue would be a bit too old for them. HTH

I would also recommend Moonbounce Adventures on Rt. 322.

It is an indoor play place with many different moonbounces. It is less than 10 minutes from Oasis which is very nice also. He may need to split his time between the two because they sometimes get very crowded with birthday parties.

The Best Western Concordville (located at Rt. 322 & Rt1) has an indoor pool and would be a fairly easy drive to Claymont

This is a great suggestion too. I didnt know about the one in Boothwyn. The one in West chester is nice.

The Best Western in Concordville is a very nice hotel. I have stayed there after a couple of weddings. Dont know about the pool, too hung over for that haha:lmao:

we live in WC! I grew up outside of Linwood. The hotel on 322 has a pool (Best WEstern) also there is an ice rink in Aston. I took my DS and nieces to a play area off of 452. I can't remember the name but it was a bunch of moon bounces. There is a pizza hut right at the light too.
