What To Do If You Get A Stomach Bug In Disney

It is a pill that you swallow and they do make it in
:bitelip: suppositories

That is even funnier given the picture you have under your tag of Goofy's um, heinie... :rotfl2:

I don't think Florida water has any bacteria in it that you find anywhere else, but the sulfur really does seem to mess with some people's digestive system.

Me, I'm not on vacation until I get in the shower, turn it on, and smell that familiar eggy smell!

I wanted to add that Zofran has NO side effects. No drowsiness, no thirst, nothing. The only thing that happens is you stop puking. That's it.

And you don't have to stick it in your heinie...

The 'number 2' problems always arrive about a day after we arrive. It's inevitable for us at this point. I advise you to AT LEAST travel with Immodium Advanced if you tend to have a sensitive stomach.

My family ends up having to use it on every trip.

I never go anywhere without my Immodium! We used to live in Florida and the water in Orlando does not smell or taste funny to us, so I doubt it is the water. Ds got ill last trip, but it started with a sore throat, followed by a pretty high fever and vomitting. I don't think this can be the water or food poisoning, I think it is a bug, and we are pretty vigilant with the hand cleaning!

Quite a few years ago we noticed we would always come home with colds. We started being vey vigilant with purell and ALOT of handwashing and now we are always fine.

Next time you are there take a look :magnify: at how everyone touches the hand rails, the bars that you grab onto. Even the ones getting on the bus!

Germs! Germs! Germs! somebody stop me :bounce:

About 10 years ago I discovered a great OTC anti-nausea medicine called Emetrol. You should be able to find it at any major drug store. It works beautifully and has no side effects that I am aware of.

All this talk of stomach bugs has me worried. I'm planning to pack some Immodium and Emetrol when we go in September! Hopefully we won't need it, but you never know . . .

Hope this helps as an affordable, non-prescription alternative to Zofran! :thumbsup2

Boy am I glad I'm already back from my trip! We were at WDW in late May, and I had heard a little about a stomach virus going around. We used antibacterial wipes in the parks, and that's about all the precautions we took, and luckily no one got sick. But I have been reading on these boards lately about the following: rats at CSR, bed bugs at POR, snakes at several resorts, food poisoning from buffets, and stomach flu everywhere! I'm not so sure I would want to be going to WDW had I seen all of this before! To think we pay $$$ to subject ourselves to all this! I think my next vacation will be on a secluded beach somewhere :rotfl:

I had to take Zofran for my entire pregnancy and it really helped. Works really great! The only side effect I had was severe constipation but I was on it for 9 months.

but DH and I ended up sick with food poisoning from the turkey wraps on our flight a few years ago. It was horrible-as you can imagine! Luckily someone was watching for us becuse he was sick first and I was sick next and we ususally could manage with the boys together. It was the same trip that we missed our flight from Toronto to Orlando and had to fly to Tampa instead-what a memorable trip. We always drink bottled water at the parks, have tums, and pepto with us to

I know, that's how we felt our last trip. The girls think we're nuts now because we're like, don't touch the hand rails! Ever! :faint:

We've turned into a family of Howie Mandells....

Hmmmm ... not sure we have ever gotten a stomach bug (if we did it was so mild we maybe thought it was something we ate)?

We always tend to get the sore throat upper respitory thing ... at least DH does. DH gets sick EVERYTIME we go on vacation! He always gets the sinus, sore throat, coughing thing. Sorry but it's annoying.

I think it's because he smokes and then on vacation he does not smoke as much ... it's his system trying to clear out all that yucky stuff.

DW was sick for about half of our last trip. It was a whole bunch of no fun.

Compazine works well for nausea but it can have some very bad side effects. With DW these did not appear right away but after and handfull of uses over a few years it got ugly. I have known others with similar experiences but in a shorter time frame.

Talk to your doctor and pharacist and read your lables.
