What to do if you can't make a race?

I have registered for the ToT in October. Unfortunately, my husband is having some health problems. While it is still several months away, I am concerned that we may have to reschedule/cancel our trip. I have bought registrations to the Color Run from runners who couldn't go. Can I do that with my registration for tot, try to sell it on Craigslisy? I seem to remember reading/hearing you can't do that with Disney races. Just want to know what my options are.

Nevermind I spoke with an agent at run Disney this morning, and while I can't transfer my registration to someone else, I can defer it to another race in the future. And I have until a week before the race to decide. Whew!

Will they let you apply the registration payment to another race? We are having the same problem with the ToT in October and I really don't want to lose all that money. We have two adults registered and two kids for the children's races. It was over $300.

For marathon weekend, you must transfer/defer to either another race that weekend or the following year (no other races). Pregnancy forced me to defer last years goofy to this year and sign up for the half. I could have transferred to the half but I would have forfeited the cost difference. And you have to pay a transfer/defer fee either way. Blah.

I may also need to defer the ToT as well. I emailed runDisney, and they said the deferral link isn't up right now, but they will let me know when it is. If you defer before September 4th, the fee will be $45. After that, it will be $70.
