We don't mind getting a bit wet...so rain is okay, but thunderstorms are another story. Looks like this weekend there will be some thunderstorms in Orlando.....any tips/ideas of things to do while it is thunderstorming?

We won't have a car (staying on site), but will have park hopper passes. Kids are 2 and 4

Buy some raincoats or at least some good Disney ponchos. Get some crocs or water shoes or wear meshy sneakers without socks if all else fails and go to the parks! Laugh and have fun and do indoor rides as much as possible.

Either take a lot of extra clothes or quarters. If you plan on taking a break at the resort during the day, change clothes or toss them in the dryer while the kids nap!

Bring a trash bag or poncho to put over the stroller (not with the kids it of course :) ) to keep it dry while it's parked.

see shows when its bad, Epcot has lots of indoor things as does Hollywood studios!! the worst park in a storm is Animal kingdom so maybe avoid that one till Sunday when most the rain is passed and I just looked as we are heading in tomorrow for the may the 4th that its only a 30 percent chance now so we may all be great and get no rain!!

Thunderstorms in Florida do not usually last as long as they do elsewhere, and the heat tends to dry up things very quickly. I would suggest they you try and eat your meals when it is scheduled to rain.

While my family was there it rained every day, we were there mid July. When it started to sprinkle we headed to a sit down place to eat. By the time we were finished eating the rain had stopped.

If you kids are very scheduled on their eating times I would try and do the indoor rides while it is raining and the outdoor rides when the sun is out.

We are here right now and it has rained something fierce the last 3 days. Today most of the day was sunny but around 8pm right before we were about to go into fantasmic it started coming down. It is unfortunate because "usually" Florida rain only lasts an hour at most, but this has been constant. You just have to don a poncho, put on some good waterproof shoes, and make the most of it. Although Animal Kingdom is awful walking from place to place in the rain, it was the best time to do Kilimanjaro Safari because most of the animals LOVE the rain (elephants were swimming in the water). There are lots of things to do at Disney even if it does rain so personally, we haven't let it deter us.

Don't let the rain slow you down, but the shoe issue is an important one. Wet shoes are NO fun let me tell you! The average pair of tennis shoes takes at least 2 days to dry out. You can still see the indoor attractions but your stroller will still have to be parked outside. As someone said, you can use a garbage bag or a cheap vinyl shower curtain (check dollar tree). We've always used the dollar tree ponchos, however, your legs do get wet. Therefore, the WDW ones are better. Keep in mind though, that everyone else will have exactly the same poncho, so keep your group together, especially children.

Disney sells ponchos but we have found these great pull over wind breaker/ rain jackets that fold up very small. I got my 1st one over 17yrs ago and it is still good. My second one I've had for at least 11 yrs. We first found them at DTD then they seemed to have moved to HS and then to AK. Not sure where they are located now but they were about $40 well worth it to me. You can only use so many t-shirts.

Another tip....double stroller with an adult rain poncho over it to keep the kids dry. Croc shoe, tennis shoes take way to long to dry out.

If it is a long thunderstorm do inside attractions like the living sea at EPCOT.
