We are headed to Disney next week and the 10 day forcast shows rain on 2 of our 4 days. We are praying it changes by then, but if it does rain, any suggestions on what to do?

Pack rain ponchos (you can get these even at a dollar store near you) You can do pretty much anything that you would normally do on a sunny day. Some rides will close down (I'm thinking Splash Mountain maybe others) but only if there is lightning or a threat of it. The beauty of Florida is the rain doesn't usually last; on the downside as a Floridian if I had a dollar for everytime I let the dogs in and out on a rainy/sunny day ..like today ,,,I could probably afford a week at AKL :rotfl2:

Have a great time and Welcome to the boards!

It rained on a few days of our Jan vacation (and was very cold), and we just put on our ponchos and went about our day. We did AK on one of our rainy days - the safari was pretty neat in the rain. Everest was still running. Epcot is also a good park to do in the rain because there are a lot of indoor things to do. The rain does seem to keep the crowds down a little as well. Just don't let the rain keep you from enjoying your vacation!

We don't do anything differently. We just put our ponchos on and keep on going.

EPCOT - inside exhibits

or

AK - Safari, the animals love to play in the rain !

Carry a light weight back pack - such as Nike nylon string ones.
Our #1 advice - pack plastic zip-lock bags, large ones to hold your camera, cell phone, wallets and an extra pair of water shoes (sandels, flip flops, crocs)
When it rains (summer time - hot days) - use the 'water shoe' and put your sneakers in the zip lock bag.

If you are traveling during the cooler months - pack 2 pairs of sneakers.
Get/buy a newpaper everyday from your resort. Read it if you wish.
But when it rains, at night stuff some newspaper into each sneaker to help them dry out faster during the night. Then let the 'wet' pair of sneakers air dry (without the newspaper) the morning and wear your second pair of sneakers. Repeat process with second pair of sneakers if it rains again and your first pair of sneakers will be ready to wear again.

That is a wonderful tip!

Thank you for the ideas! Especially the double shoe idea. I would not have thought of that! We will definitely enjoy ourselves, rain or shine! Anything is better than the drab weather we have in New England right now!:cutie:

We went in September and it rained almost every day. You have already been provided several great tips. I would just add that if you are taking a child, bring a stroller cover!!! I didn't my first trip and ended up carrying a toddler lol...

I've done the Not So Scary Halloween Party in the rain and you wouldn't even know it was raining because it didn't stop anyone from having any fun. It might have kept the crowds down though because we just walked on some of the rides. I wish I had a ponco with me and will be bringing that with us when we go down in 10 days. Weather looks like it's forecasted with some rain and ponchos from your local $ store are better than those picked up at the parks.
Enjoy

We do the ponchos.

I know people will say you can't go all the way to Disney and go to the movies but that is what we did our last trip. The movie theater at DTD has a lot of choices and it was a nice break. But if you are only there 4 days you may not want to do this. We were only there for two days but we have made several trip to Disney so didn't feel like we were missing out on anything.

I agree with all the tips already provided I would just add one more...

If you bring a stroller AND you bring the stroller rain cover, PUT the cover on the stroller when you go on rides with long lines or in to see the shows (e.g. festival of the Lion King @ AK). I learned to do this when it rained while we were in a show and our stroller got SOAKED. I now cover the stroller whenever we are planning to join a long line-up or going to see a show. That way, if it rains while the stroller is parked, we are not affected.

it rained a few times on our last trip -- we chose to go to AK (where we were able to walk onto every ride) because so much of the pathways are covered by the trees, and MK, because you can walk under a lot of covered areas.

Yes, Epcot does have a lot of indoor attractions, but we decided against it for the rainy days because it is so open.

We just keep going. No matter what my kids tell people, I won't melt if I get wet.:lmao:
